William Hill

Will Spoof deliver as the race favourite?

The current race market leader is SPOOF who is at 11/4* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 20:03 GMT on Wednesday, 24th June 2020). He had a very good run out recently on his return.

That was a second place finish at Kempton at 5f after having been away from action for 5 months. He has to be on the shortlist for this.

He did fall away with his form at the back end of last season, coming down the weights.

But that recent Kempton success saw him look refreshed and recharged. Deserves plenty of respect in this company even though he is at the top of the weights.

REAL ESTATE

Right up there as well with plenty of back is REAL ESTATE. He scored a hattrick when winning in mid-January at Lingfield. His last run was back at that same venue at the beginning of June.

He scored there from 11/1 in a field of ten under Class 4 handicap terms. That was after four months away from the track as well, so even more progress could be coming from the 5 year old in this one.

Real Estate is a 10/3 contender* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 20:03 GMT on Wednesday, 24th June 2020).

WAR WHISPER

Bringing some claims of his own will be WAR WHISPER who was fourth on his last effort. That was in a handicap at Newcastle about three months ago. The one issue is that he hasn’t won since 2018.

That’s fifteen efforts without a score from War Whisper. But the place claims are definitely there as he’s off a nice mark and he did take a nice second place finish on a 5f trip at Newcastle on his reappearance.

BOOM THE GROOM

There is some good consistency from BOOM THE ROOM which may appeal to punters. The nine year old opened 2020 with a second place in a field of 12 at Lingfield, only beaten out by half a length.

That is one of two place finishes in his last five efforts. The 9 year old is up against it a little bit here. He just had a reappearance after three months with a 4th of 8 at Chelmsford City.

Other contenders

HANDYTALK could be better for a recent run at Kempton. He was well out of contention, but looking back at his form before a long break, it was solid. He is not one to totally write off in this contest by any means if punters can excuse his reappearance form.

MOONRAKER scored a fourth place finish on his last run. That was an effort at Southwell four months ago. He did score a 5f success at Southwell in December when he looked on top of his game. Has plenty to find.

Predictions & Tips

A good duel is set for the head of the field here. SPOOF certainly brings his claims after looking so much better on his last run. After 5 month break he scored a superb runner up place.

But there is a big eye on REAL ESTATE for this contest. He brings some good current form and has done more work recently than Spoof has done in racetrack appearances. Will that make a difference?

As for some contenders that could put things together we will take a look at HANDYTALK. He looked as if he needed his recent run and could be all the better for it and get in the frame as a 12/1 e/w shot* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 20:03 GMT on Wednesday, 24th June 2020).
