Tom Collins heads the market in Newbury racing odds

There is a sizeable favourite for this Newbury handicap and that is TOM COLLINS at 10/3* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 21:45 GMT on Tuesday 7th July 2020). He is coming back down in trip for this one.

His last run was at Doncaster just over a week ago when he settled down well to claim a 4th place finish. That was after a bustling, hectic trip at Royal Ascot where he finished 9th in a field of 14 in the Golden Gates Handicap.

There looks to be plenty more to come from him, especially from this mark at this level. He’s looking for his first score since breaking his maiden last October. Very good claims from Tom Collins there are, because he’s used to better company than this.

TOM COLLINS
10/3

William Hill

Historic one to watch in Newbury field

The unexposed HISTORIC will be making just his fourth racetrack appearance. He appears to be one to keep on side as well for the fixture as he goes with cheek pieces for the first time.

He delivered a good third place finish on his return to action, which was at Chelmsford after a year’s break. So that was a nice effort from him and there should be further progress now as he takes on a furlong extra.

Historic brings some serious claims and goes from a current 5/1 mark* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 21:45 GMT on Tuesday 7th July 2020).

Count Of Amazonia looks ready for more

Another that we are going to suggest to keep an eye on in Newbury racing odds for this one is COUNT OF AMAZONIA who is a 12/1 option* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 21:45 GMT on Tuesday 7th July 2020).

Before heading into the winter break he secured a maiden win at Newcastle on the all-weather. His reappearance was just back in mid-June when he showed up at Newbury and took 7th of a field of 12.

It was little more than a chance to get some air into his lungs and sharpen up a bit. So further progress could be there when the colt takes on this one. He has had two runs in this class, banking the one win. Not to be dismissed.

Tremor shows some promise

Will TREMOR have the opposition shaking in this one? The gelding broke his maiden at the second attempt which was at the end of October last year at Nottingham.

His return to action came on an 8f trip at Newbury in the middle of June and he went well there. It was a third place finish from a field of 10 that he banked in a minor event.

He’s stepping up here in class but there are reasonable place claims after a good course and distance effort. He will be making his handicap debut in this one.

Others to consider

BILL THE BUTCHER is another taking his handicap bow in this one and will be at the top of the weights. There is likely a big move to improvement from him after scoring before the winter break to break his maiden at Southwell. Bill The Butcher is one to keep on side.

WREN is worth a look as well as she will be looking for her first score since winning her racetrack debut. This will be her third appearance since then. It’s also her reappearance after 259 days.

HONORE DAUMIER gets the cheek pieces on for the first time as he looks to find that first win. He looks well suited to taking on this extra tip however. He was second on his handicap debut in December without running particularly convincingly.

EXHIBIT is the final one that we will round off this Newbury racing odds preview with. She is another that scored for the first time before going into winter break. Exhibit made a reappearance recently with a fourth at Newbury a month ago.

Predictions & Tips for TRACK Racing Odds

This is a cracking field here with plenty of claims coming to the fore. But for us none of them are bigger than the justifiable 10/3 favourite TOM COLLINS* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 21:45 GMT on Tuesday 7th July 2020).

He was solid at the Golden Gates Handicap at Royal Ascot and was near a score at Doncaster on his last effort in a huge 4-way battle for the finish.

Tom Collins stays at the same mark as the Doncaster run and looked comfortable over the 1m trip in it. He looks to have plenty to offer.

HISTORIC should easily feature at the business end of things and looks a fair hand for this trip at 1m with cheekpieces. The colt should be well respected and rightly so.

We will also take a slight lean towards the e/w shot that is COUNT OF AMAZONIA. He wasn’t totally disgraced over course and distance on his handicap debut and the experience should see him progress in this one. He is well worth keeping on side.

Now to take a look at longer-priced options. We also have a fancy for HONORE DAUMIER with cheek pieces for the first time and a better-looking trip ahead of him.

There are place claims there and the final one that we will also pull into the picture is BILL THE BUTCHER as a long shot as well.
