Can River Dawn get back to winning ways?

There is RIVER DAWN at the head of the market for this one at 9/4* (betting odds taken from Bet36 at 23:56 GMT on Monday, 22nd June 2020). He came blasting out of the blocks at the turn of the new year.

River Dawn scored back to back wins at Lingfield to raise his stock. He did however miss out on his hattrick chance when he went to Pontefract in mid-June. He settled for third in that contest, but was only three-quarters of a length back of winner Frankello.

He has been away for 108 days before that trip at Pontefract, so he is probably going to be even sharper for this one. He goes off the same mark as well and looks as if this contest is likely to be in his wheelhouse.

ROLLER

There was a good score for ROLLER on his last trip. He breezed back into action with a really easy win. That happened on an 8F trip at Kempton. So that was a course and distance win for him.

It was also after three months away from the track, so he is going to come in as a big threat that warrants some respect in this contest. He is going to be in the mix if this is a good sharp contest.

Roller is currently lining up at 4/1 odds* (betting odds taken from Bet36 at 23:56 GMT on Monday, 22nd June 2020).

NOBLE PEACE

7 year old NOBLE PEACE has scored back to back third-place finishes as he heads to Kempton. Those place finishes were both at Kempton. So he is bringing a nice bit of form to the table.

He is a solid performer who has won three of his last eight trips on the all-weather. He finished outside of the places in just one of the races in that sequence.

His recent third at Lingfield was on a longer 12F trip and it came after a 101 day break. He will probably give a good account of himself, but is he sharp enough for a score to trust from 9/1* (betting odds taken from Bet36 at 23:56 GMT on Monday, 22nd June 2020).

LIGHTNING ATTACK

There was a below-par effort from LIGHTNING ATTACK on his last trip. That was on an 8F trip at Southwell in February. He has scored a win at Southwell on his previous trip which was back in January.

So he’s coming back from a 130 daybreak for his appearance here. Place claims may be the best way to approach a look on him and he is at big and understandable 20/1 odds* (betting odds taken from Bet36 at 23:56 GMT on Monday, 22nd June 2020).

KINGSTON KURRAJONG

Another of the 7 year olds in this field is KINGSTON KURRAJONG. He was carrying some great form towards the end of last season, scoring back to back wins at Windsor and Epsom.

His last race before the winter break was an 8F trip at Kempton on the all-weather in which he finished 5th in a field of 14. Was nowhere near the win and he hasn’t appeared anywhere since the middle of October.

But he is a very interesting contender in the field if he hits his stride and the bookies recognise that with him currently 11/2* (betting odds taken from Bet36 at 23:56 GMT on Monday, 22nd June 2020).

Others to note

MASKED IDENTITY returned from a winter break just over two weeks ago. He didn’t get the cleanest of runs there and was 5th of 10 in that contest. There’s a bit more promise in him than his last effort showed by deals with being near the top of the weights.

It has been a strange form from CRYSTAL CASQUE. He was standing along in great form before heading into the winter break, going 213211 in a spell before then taking second form last on a short trip at Kempton. His return from the break didn’t go well as he was last in an 8F trip at Chelmsford City on June 9th.

The other that we will pull into focus for this contest is JAMES PARK WOODS. His return from a recent break didn’t go well as he was well out of the picture down the field. But he has won at 1m before and goes with blinkers and a refitted tongue strap.

Predictions & Tips

This looks as if it could be a decent contest but we can’t look past the favourite RIVER DAWN. His recent return to track action should see him come back sharper for this.

He looks to have the edge over this field. The only one that we can see getting anywhere close to challenging him for the win is ROLLER who delivered a recent commanding course and distance win.

The other that we will look towards for a bit of action would be JAMES PARK WOODS who looks to be the best of the chasing pack behind the leading two in this handicap.
