Dwayne Johnson rocking US Election 2020 winner betting market

"Punters definitely smell what the Rock is cooking"

Novelty Betting & Other Events Betting

With The Donald having thrown Political Betting for a loop last year with his US Election win, punters at Betfair haven’t been afraid to go out and get bets matched on some celebrities who have no practical political background. Apparently, for US voters, the lack of experience in politics from Donald Trump wasn’t all that important when voting for the next President, which seems more than a little odd.

So it has left the US Presidential Election 2020 betting market in a position where you have the likes of Mark Zuckerberg, Oprah Winfrey and Dwayne Johnson having their name sported around. It’s bizarre and while Donald Trump is 2/1 outright favourite at Bet356 to win re-election ahead of the field at the next election, punters seem to be having a little fun with this and the market is as crazy as the result of the last election.

The Democrats could boost their cause by actually having a strong candidate come forward because the party seems to be in a bit of limbo at the moment. But with Hillary Clinton, last year’s loser to The Donald way out as a 28/1 shot at Betfair, it is remarkable that at some bookmakers you can get a shorter price than that on former WWE Wrestler Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson becoming the next person into the Oval Office.

That’s right, William Hill have the actor up at 16/1 to win the 2020 US Election and that is just a reflection that right now, the public seems to believe that anyone can become the next leader of the free world it would seem. So you have ‘The Rock’ hovering around the same market as seasoned political heavyweights Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders at 16/1 also.

The Rock was a 66/1 outsider six months ago, but with reports in mid-July this year that he had filed for a campaign with the Federal Election Commission (which is the first step towards the Oval Office) his odds have been tumbling. So now Johnson is actually a better price with bookmaker Boylesports to take over office than the likes of Hilary Clinton, Ted Cruz, Mark Zuckerberg and Oprah Winfrey who is a long 50/1 punt.

Aoife Heffron, Spokeswoman for Boylesports commented: “Punters definitely smell what the Rock is cooking as they continue to relentlessly back him to win the 2020 US Presidential election forcing our traders to slash his odds to 16/1 having been initially installed at 66/1.”

She added, “To put that into perspective, Dwayne Johnson is now the same odds, at 16/1, to become the US President in 2020 as Senator Bernie Sanders and former Vice President Joe Biden.”
