Shimmering Dawn heads the field

There was a narrow loss for SHIMMERING DAWN on her penultimate run which was on the all-weather at Chelmsford City.

She was just beaten out by a nose in that contest as the second-favourite. She goes as the 15/8 favourite for this run* (betting odds taken from Boylesports at 22:22 GMT on Tuesday June 9th 2020)

Shimmering Dawn’s last run saw her claim a 4th place finish back at the same venue in a similar contest. She is coming back down in class for this one which should raise her chances.

So it’s little surprise to see her at the head of the market. She has a great turn of speed and should get close to the score.

Fizzy Feet can spark into life

The form of FIZZY FEET is well worth noting from 5/1* (betting odds taken from Boylesports at 22:22 GMT on Tuesday, June 9th 2020). She has had a busy year already winning three of her four runs in 2020, all of those at Class 3 handicap action.

Her latest run saw her take a success on a 6f trip at Wolverhampton over Tathmeen. She should be a big contender to carry on with sharp form on her return. She is going to have to defy top weight, however.

Decent chance for Pennywhistle

PENNYWHISTLE has collected three place finishes from four starts on the all-weather. She is just missing that winning touch however, despite having had Frankie Dettori and Oisin Murphy in the saddle.

Pennywhistle is consistent in placing, but just missed out on that even in her last run when she took 4th of 7 at Wolverhampton in mid-March and she goes from 11/2* (betting odds taken from Boylesports at 22:22 GMT on Tuesday, June 9th 2020).

Can Burmese Waltz shine for new yard

It will be a debut for BURMESE WALTZ under trainer Archie Watson. Can she get back to the kind of form that saw her break her maiden in August 2018? She only had the one run last year which was at Dundalk in April, taking 3rd of 6.

So it’s a massive 423 day break that she returns from. She still warrants respect even from that at 5/1* (betting odds taken from Boylesports at 22:22 GMT on Tuesday June 9th 2020).

Buy Me Back with strong place claims on step up

The other runner that piques interest for the contest is BUY ME BACK who is well treated in the handicap. From five previous all-weather attempts, she has taken a win and four places. That’s consistency.

The win came in her last effort at Kempton in early March. She seems to have been coming on strong since moving from Archie Watson to Mark Loughnane and looks a good pick from 7/1* (betting odds taken from Boylesports at 22:22 GMT on Tuesday June 9th 2020)

The rest of the field

SECOND COLLECTION looks nothing more than an e/w punt at best. She was last in handicap action about 3 months ago when she finished at the back of the field. Lacks a bit of strength and is likely to get out-paced.

The unexposed JAMAHEERY returns for the first time since wind surgery. She is making her handicap debut and didn’t really show much of anything in the Cornwallis Stakes at Newmarket on her last effort.

Rounding out the pack is ROSADORA who returns after 8 months away from the track. There were some good efforts from her last term, including a win at Lingfield in June. This is a step up for her, however.

Predictions & Tips

FIZZY FEET is giving up 4lbs to SHIMMERING DAWN in this contest and just because of that we have to lean towards the latter. That’s not disregarding the threat of Fizzy Feet at all, but she is climbing 3lb from her last success.

We do like the outside chances of BUY HER BACK as well, although she is going to need something on a big step up in class. She seems to be progressing well however and can challenge for a place.

With some faults that we can see from the challenge of PENNYWHISTLE and BURMESE WALTZ, it sends us further towards Mark Loughnane’s Buy Her Back.
