Wade and Anderson front runners after Taylor exit

Sports Betting

Well James Wade and Gary Anderson are now the front runners in 2012 PDC Darts World Championship betting, after we saw the shock exit of Phil The Power Taylor. Taylor bombed badly in just the second round of the major event, losing 4-1 to Dave Chisnall, even though Taylor had the higher three dart average for the match. Chisnall just had the finishing power going on and it was a major scalp for him as the top half of the draw was blow wide open at the Alexander Palace in London. The expected semi final clash in the top half of the draw was between Phil Taylor and last year’s losing finalist, Gary Anderson. But now the Scot has a clear run at making it to the final again. Anderson has a tight scrap in his first round match, and didn’t have things all his own way in the second against South Africa’s Devon Peterson. But he is getting the job done at the moment, and now with Phil Taylor out of the way, he should be even more motivated than ever. Anderson lost in last year’s final against Adrian Lewis, but the Scot has been one of the most consistent and strongest players during 2011 and is now hotly tipped to take his first ever PDC Darts World Championship title.

England’s James Wade is pushing him hard though in the PDC Darts World Championship betting, and remains our tip to take the title. Wade has looked pretty solid so far, although he hasn’t been scoring too highly, he has been efficient and effective. There have been question marks over his form this season, but is looking in good enough shape to make a serious run here. His second round demolition job over Jelle Klaasen was a nice confidence builder for him. He will know that he can’t face Phil Taylor in the final now, but he is in the bottom half of the draw (which was tougher than the top) and the defending champion Adrian Lewis is still hanging around in there. So that is the likely semi final clash up in the bottom half of the draw at the moment. Lewis almost crashed in the first round, staring defeat in the face but survived that just about. He played much better in the second round, but with his inconsistency you always wonder and that is what makes Anderson and Wade the stronger darts bets here.

Australia’s Simon Whitlock is also playing very well at the moment, being the tournament’s top three dart average scorer. The Wizard is likely to come up against Gary Anderson in the quarter finals of the top half of the draw, but the winner of that outcome is likely to push on to the final, so Whitlock, who seems to always be a nearly man, maybe just worth keeping an eye on as an outside bet in your 2012 PDC Darts World Championship betting.
