The 2012/13 Premier League Top Goalscorer market is one which will offer plenty of value as usual. There are some familiar names at the top of the list and even these present some tremendous value. Last season Arsenal striker Robin van Persie finished as the Premier League’s top scorer and the deadly Dutchman is trading at a price of 10/1 with online maker Ladbrokes to repeat the feat this season. No-one is quite sure just yet where exactly Robin van Persie will be playing next season, and it may not even be in the Premier League because of links to Juventus. The Dutchman stated that he didn’t want to extend his contract with the Gunners and he will be a free agent next summer, so Arsenal will have to shop him out unless they can get him to change his mind and stay at the club. He has been the go to guy for Arsenal’s attack, and he has pretty much single handedly carried the Gunners for a long time. But he wants title and trophies and Arsenal may be without their main weapon. It is Premier League favourites Manchester City and Manchester United who have been chasing his signature, and if Robin van Persie ends up at either of those, then he surely will be in with an extremely good chance of repeating his efforts from last season.

Imagine him paired up with Sergio Aguero at Man City, or Wayne Rooney at Man Utd. The goals would be coming thick and fast. However, it is Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney who is trading as one of the top options in the Premier League Top Goalscorer betting odds, as the United star looks to go one better than last season. The England star netted 27 league goals and like Van Persie at Arsenal, carried the Red Devils up front. Rooney is such a consistent performer that you know he will be close to being Top Goalscorer next season. It is a big surprise that he has yet to finish a Premier League season as Top Goalscorer. If Sir Alex Ferguson continues to improve the midfield, which was lacking in creativity last season, to complement new signing Shinji Kagawa, then Rooney should get extra service to what he did last season. In two of the last three Premier League seasons now, Rooney has netted over 25 goals.

To some people’s surprise, Fernando Torres is up there trading around the same price as Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney. The Chelsea striker hasn’t been firing on all cylinders for about three seasons now, certainly not at the levels of his heyday with Liverpool. However, there were glimpses of him getting back to form towards the end of last season and at Euro 2012. But what will be keeping Torres trading well is the fact that is now going to be focal point of Chelsea’s attack next season after the departure of Didier Drogba. Torres has the forward role to himself to really make his own and that confidence should allow him to get his touch back. He will also be supported by a much more creative supporting cast than he was last season as well. He will have Juan Mata and Eden Hazard behind him, threading balls through, as well as other options like Marko Marin and Victor Moses. So Fernando Torres, will, hands down have better service that he has ever gotten before at Stamford Bridge. So now there will be no more excuses for the Spaniard, he will have to step and make it count. Torres is trading at a price of 8/1 with online bookmaker Ladbrokes.

Other names hovering around are Liverpool’s Luis Suarez, who may well improve with Liverpool’s more patient and efficient passing game going on behind under Brendan Rodgers, and there there are more options from Manchester City’s Carlos Tevez who formed a great partnership with Ageuro at the back end of last season is priced at 14/1 with his team mate Mario Balotelli out at 22/1, just in from Manchester United’s Javier Hernandez.
