Indian Open snooker betting will be taking centre stage this week, in what is the first ever ranking tournament to be held in the country. Because of that, the big guns are out in force, all vying to be the first ones to get their names into the history books in India. It is naturally a huge event of course and there are couple of home based players in the field who have qualified for the main draw. While there has been some withdrawals from the event, including Ronnie O’Sullivan, there is still some great action to follow for your snooker betting.

Leading the way in the Indian Open Snooker betting market at online betting site Boylesports is Neil Robertson who is at 4/1 favouritism. The Australian hot-shot started off the new season of ranking tournaments in style, winning in Wuxi City, China but has since failed to get a title on the board. He did finish as runner up minor events in Thailand and Hong Kong recently, which suggests that he may not be far away. However, he only made it to the quarter finals of the last World Ranking tournament, the Shanghai Open back in September.

The playing field is generally pretty level when it comes to snooker betting and the Indian Open is no different. Following on the heels of Neil Robertson is going to be Mark Selby who is running at 15/2 with online bookmaker Boylesports. Selby hasn’t managed to land a title yet this season but you are never going to count him out. Still is one of the more consistent players around who can just find that extra gear when it is needed. John Higgins also travels out to India to contest this ranking tournament, the Scotsman having one European Tour event win under his belt this season and running at 10/1 in the Indian Open snooker betting market.

The big three really have all their strengths and yet at the same time there is no-one dominating in the sport to take firm favouritism at all. This is why things are wide open and the draw may be pretty revealing. What makes the draw fascinating is that Higgins, Robertson and Ding Junhui are all piled together in the top half. Indeed, Robertson could meet Chinese star Ding Junhui in the quarter finals. So the top half of the draw immediately eliminates at least two of the big guns.

Ding Junhui himself does look to be in good form, winning the Shanghai Masters recently, and running to the final of the European Tour event in Germany at the start of the month. He has taken a lot of backing and will continue to do so. The man who beat him in that final in Germany was Mark Allen, who has been trading well also on the back of that result. So with the cluttered top half of the draw, it could leave the path open for Mark Selby to take full advantage of and you would expect to see him in the quarterfinals at the very least. He could meet Mark Allen there, but backers will stay with Selby.
