Taylor faces Barneveld as threat of relegation still looms for The Power

Sports Betting

It was a night of drawn matches last week in the Premier League of Darts, with three of the five matches between drawn. 2014 Premier League darts betting this week moves on to the 02 in Dublin and this is the penultimate night of action before the bottom two in the table get relegated. So the pressure is on and the night’s big match will be Phil Taylor v Raymond van Barneveld.

It has been a rough ride for Taylor this season, with just three wins from his seven played so far, but he posted a 7-1 win over Wes Newton last week to climb out of the drop zone. He’s still only a point clear though and will be looking to consolidate against his old rival. Barneveld is lodged inside the top four having suffered just the one defeat all season and the big Dutchman Will be looking for more points to put him near the top of the table.

Taylor is priced up at 4/7 with Paddy Power to beat Barneveld, the Dutchman drawing his last two matches. There was a change at the top after last week’s round of matches, with Michael van Gerwen taking over supremacy again but only on leg difference over Peter Wright. Wright still remains the only unbeaten player in the Premier League this season, and it was he who held Barneveld to a tie last week in Leeds.

Van Gerwen and Wright will square off in Dublin in what should be a great ding-dong duel. Wright has been impressive this season on his Premier League debut, having beaten Phil Taylor and Adrian Lewis along the way. But he goes as 10/3 underdog against Michael van Gerwen this week. Mighty Mike is priced up at 4/7 to pick up the points and pull himself clear at the top of the table.

The week’s other matches sees Gary Anderson take on Wes Newton, Adrian Lewis face dave Chisnall and West Newton v Simon Whitlock. The last match on the card is a battle between the bottom two in the pile. Whitlock has managed just the three points all season, with Newton on five, but in the drop zone because of being worse off than Dave Chisnall in leg difference.

2014 Premier League Darts Outright Winner Odds at Paddy Power
Michael van Gerwen 11/10, Phil Taylor 7/2, Adrian Lewis 11/2, Peter Wright 8/1, Raymond van Barneveld 16/1
