Pleasure Beach can keep supporters happy

Horse Racing Betting

The last day of the month brings racing from Leicester on Tuesday. This is a Class 6 handicap which is open to 3 year olds only.

It is a testing trip at 1m 3f 179y and it’s a big field that is taking this one on as well, with 14 runners having been declared.

It’s a wide open field by the looks of it as well, at least beyond the main three. Here we take a look at the Leicester 20:45 racing preview in more depth.

Will Pleasure Garden make handicapping breakthrough?

To be fair it wasn’t a great juvenile campaign that PLEASURE GARDEN put together, but he is a threat in this contest.

That is because he really put things together well a week ago on a trip at Windsor for his handicap debut.

He stayed-on well for third there and that suggests that the little extra in trip that he faces here will be right in his wheelhouse.

Pleasure Garden is a 15/8 option* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 23:44 GMT on Monday 29th June 2020).

Pearl Beach shows promise

There was an interesting reappearance from PEARL BEACH as well recently, which puts her on the radar.

She claimed third place in a field of 13 at Chelmsford City over a 10f trip a couple of weeks ago.

She really looked as she had taken a step forward there, again another preparing to leave behind a mediocre juvenile campaign.

The form at Chelmsford City was under handicap terms. Pearl Beach is one to keep on side at 5/2* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 23:44 GMT on Monday 29th June 2020)

Party Potential with claims

PARTY POTENTIAL will have cheek pieces for the first time as he looks to up his game as well. He was recently on show for his reappearance in a Kempton handicap, which was at a 12f distance.

He travelled fairly well to get sixth place in a field of eleven, but just left himself way too much to do.

Needs a smarter approach, and place claims could be there from 12/1* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 23:44 GMT on Monday 29th June 2020).

Opine well supported in the market

There was a fourth place finish from OPINE on his reappearance. That was about three weeks ago when he was fourth of 8 in a Yarmouth handicap contest.

That was at 14f and showed a good step. He will have cheek pieces for the first time as he looks to break maiden.

The lightly raced Opine has been well-supported at 9/4* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 23:44 GMT on Monday 29th June 2020).

Other contenders

There isn’t a great deal of form knocking around in this field at all, and it’s hard to see anyone beyond the aforementioned contenders getting into the frame.

PUERTO SOL makes a big jump up in trip for this one. 17 days ago he was 5th on a Leicester trip at a shorter 8f handicap trip. So he’s not only likely going to need to find some, but will need some of those key contenders to slip up.

PAINT IT BLACK has place claims at best. After back to back third place finishes in the contest he finished second from last in a Kempton handicap a week ago. Capable of a solid run, perhaps lacking a spark to win.

There was a fourth place finish for CONTRACT KID in a field of eleven on his last run. That was almost four months ago. So he’s coming back could and would need help from poor efforts from the front runners.

It may be worth looking at first time handicappers LION’S VIGIL and SCARLET RUBY to make something of themselves.

Predictions & Tips

This is not exactly a deep field here. It’s a stretch to even get to PARTY POTENTIAL for each way claims.

So out of the top three in the market, which way do we swing? We are sticking with PLEASURE GARDEN as there should be more to come from him.

It was a good recent handicap debut that he put in and while it wasn’t a good, tight clean race, he finished well and looks likely to shine on this longer trip.

The only other ones that we can find in the field that could mount challenges are PEARL BEACH and OPINE.
