3M Open Golf 2019 Winner Odds & Predictions

Reed can tear it up in Minnesota

Golf Betting

The PGA Tour 3M Open Golf this week come from Blaine, Minnesota at TPC Twin Cities. There are three driveable par four holes at the course (Holes 7, 10 and 16) and so there is going to be plenty of attack-minded play going down here. There is a strong field which is being headed by Brooks Koepka as 8/1 favourite* (betting odds taken from Bet365 on June 3rd, 2019 at 3:50 pm).

Can Koepka win in the Twin Cities?

Even though this isn’t a Major, Koepka is expected to go well. This is a course which looks primed for some really low scoring. When the course was hosting the PGA TOUR Champions, five of the winners had finished with 20-under or more when it was playing at 54 holes. He is just always going to be a threat wherever he turns up, is Koepka. Is he a bigger threat come the Majors? Yes. In his last outing at the Travelers Championship, he wasn’t in the picture whatsoever but that was after his close push for the title at the US Open.

Top 5 Finish Tony Finau

Will Day end his title drought?

It has been over a year since Jason Day landed a win. But he does appear to be trending towards something positive because he has six top ten finishes to his name this season. He was superb at the Travelers Championship last time out taking a T8. The key round of that effort was his wonderful 63 in the second round. The Australian doesn’t look to be too far from collecting a win and was wonderful with the irons in his last action. The day is going as the 10/1 second favourite* (betting odds taken from Bet365 on June 3rd, 2019 at 3:50 pm).

Can consistent Matsuyama claim the 3M Open?

Another player looking as if a title won’t be too far away is Hideki Matsuyama. He is in some sparkling form and not once in the last twelve months of action has he missed a cut anywhere. Matsuyama has superb consistency and just keeps churning out those strong finishers. He has made the top twenty-five in each of his last five starts. Can he top the charts in Minnesota? All of his current stats will suggest that he is going to be in the picture and is at 11/1 odds* (betting odds taken from Bet365 on June 3rd, 2019 at 3:50 pm) to deliver the title.

Other contenders

Joaquin Niemann is coming good at the moment. Really good. Just look back at his work with the Irons at the Rocket Mortgage Classic where he took a T5. That was the same finish that the Chilean picked up at the Travelers Championship in his tournament before that. He is in prime form at the moment and could be in the mixer.

So too Patrick Reed who can eat up a low-scoring course like Twin Cities is likely to be. If he’s on his game this week he can tear things up here. He will go to Minnesota on the back of a T5 at the Rocket Mortgage Open a course which was as easy to score on as this one. That was Reed’s best finish for the season which suggests that he is going to have fun over the weekend. He’s not going to be a bad each way at all for 22/1 odds* (betting odds taken from Bet365 on June 3rd, 2019 at 3:50 pm).

Viktor Kovland is going to pique some interest once again after a couple of strong results recently. He shot a 64 on Sunday in Detor and following his top fifteen finish at the US Open, it is worth sitting up and taking note of him. Like Reed, there is enough meat on the bone in Hovland’s price to have a good each-way punt. Hovland is at 33/1 odds* (betting odds taken from Bet365 on June 3rd, 2019 at 3:50 pm) to claim the victory.

3M Open Golf Predictions

Much like the Rocket Mortgage Open last weekend, there should be plenty of low scoring around this weekend. Because of that, the short prices on the likes of Koepka and Day are probably worth skipping over. There are enough players behind them who are more than capable of hitting some low scores to be able to search for value. Of them, it has to be Read at 22/1* (betting odds taken from Bet365 on June 3rd, 2019 at 3:50 pm).

He did take a win the last time that he was in action in Minnesota, he was playing a singles match against Rory McIlroy. Patrick Reed claimed the victory on the day so will likely have some fond memories and confidence heading back to the city. As good of an each way option that there is this week.
