Fortune favours the brave as the old saying goes. It is still a tough thing in the world of betting when you get all bold and create a massive wager to then have that bet come up trumps. Back on Saturday, November 3rd, a Stevenage punter struck it right from a £5 stake on a 14-old acca which returned close to £40,000 at Betfred. The wager covered matches from five divisions across England and Scotland.
It was a lucky Saturday for punter Nick Lavranos who came up with the bet after starting with some bankers and then pulling on his knowledge to piece the rest together. He was leaning heavily on some favourites to create the wager.
Among the selections there was a bold bet on Newcastle getting their first Premier League win of the season as they hosted Watford, while West Ham needed to come up with some goals after the half time break to beat Burnely.
There was some late drama in the wager as a goal three minutes from time from Barnsley against Southend kept the bet alive. There was also a goal three minutes from time from Blackburn in the bet, as Bradley Dack struck a penalty kick just the minutes from time for Rovers.
Stevenage, the hometown club of Lavranos left it late to triumph over Oldham in their game while he relied on Celtic to win the top-duel with Hearts in the Scottish Premiership.
