ERNE RIVER looks like being a big player in this one as there’s likely further development to come from him.

It has been four wins from four under rules by him. That was twice over the hurdles before scoring on his chase debut earlier this year.

Erne River delivered a superb Warwick novice score on his latest and rates as a danger.

PIC D’ORPHY is worth a look in this very strong contest as he got back on track.

He scored a Grade 2 success at Kempton in February and has been kept back for this since then.

That form proved that his misfire in the Scilly Isles on his penultimate was just a blip.

WAR LORD is the other to get on the shortlist in this contest. He has produced some massive improvement over the fences this season.

War Lord has taken three successes for this campaign. He has also been competitive in defeat against Edwardstone this season. There are claims there.

Tip: ERNE RIVER 10/3

Ones to watch: Pic D’Orhy 7/2, War Lord 5/2

PETIT TONNERRE is a very exciting prospect and looks ready to take on sterner challenges back up in grade.

It’s been three wins from three so far under rules. A couple of those were over the hurdles in France last year.

Then on British soil, he claimed a win at Market Rasen 44 days ago in a small field.

There are strong claims there if Petit Tonnerre keeps up his rapid progress.

PIED PIPER has smoothly transitioned well into hurdling after being such a class act on the flat.

He opened his account with an impressive win at Punchestown.

He was then third in the Triumph Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival last month to Vauban.

Pied Piper is going big places most likely and has to warrant some big respect here. He should be well suited to the track at Aintree.

BRAZIL is the other key player in this contest as he is another that is rapidly progressing in this sphere.

He got off the mark over the hurdles in a novice win at Naas.

There was even better form by Brazil at the Fred Winter at Cheltenham three weeks ago, putting in a gritty effort.

If he comes back in the same kind of mood at Aintree this week then he should have a decent run at the places.

Tip: PIED PIER 10/11

Ones to watch: Petit Tonnerre 9/1, Brazil 9/4

One of the big feature races of the Aintree Grand National Festival Day 1 is the Betway Bowl Chase. There’s a superb line-up on the cards for this race and the full race preview can be seen by following this link here.

PROTEKTORAT is well worth a look in this contest as he has good previous form at Aintree.

It has been two wins from two from him at Aintree, including landing December’s Many Clouds impressively.

A third place at the Cheltenham Festival Gold Cup saw him continue in big form.

This is a fairly quick turnaround however after such a big, testing race.

ELDORADO ALLEN gets on the shortlist as he looks very good at the moment.

He’s taken some big strides forward with his form over the fences this campaign.

With the Haldon Gold Cup and the Denman Chase in his bag already this season, he has claims.

Eldorado Allen bravely showed a tremendous attitude in taking on Allaho at the Ryanair, ending up third, but it was a run full of credit.

KEMBOY is a fascinating entry here because he could have a fitness advantage.

He skipped over the Cheltenham Festival so comes in nice and fresh. He is a previous winner of this race.

Some of Kemboy’s form reads pretty well this season too, so there are reasonable claims there.

CONFLATED has claims as well, despite not completing the task at the Ryanair Chase during the Cheltenham Festival.

He was travelling well in that contest before going down a couple of fences from home.

Before going to Cheltenham, Conflated had won back to back runs.

This season’s Irish Gold Cup winner will likely have a lot to show over a longer trip here if there’s no hangover from Cheltenham.

Tip: CONFLATED 9/2

Ones to watch: Kemboy 5/1, Eldorado Allen 6/1

EPATANTE has had a fine campaign this season, winning two of three runs. She is still improving and looking like a class act.

The defeat in that sequence was to the brilliant Honeysuckle at the recent Champion Hurdle during the Cheltenham Festival.

She has the advantage in the weights over big rival Zanahiyr. However, Epatante hasn’t been proven on this longer trip.

ZANAHIYR has a few years on big rival Epatante and has plenty more potential to be unlocked yet.

There hasn’t been a success at Grade 1 year for Zanahiyr, and he did finish behind Epatante at this year’s Champion Hurdle.

He does look like the longer trip is going to suit him a little more than his main rival. This could be close and it could be epic.

GLORY AND FORTUNE is the other one to look at for the places in the Aintree Hurdle tips.

He has found some nice progress this season and has claimed a couple of wins.

There was a good win at the Betfair Hurdle and then a fifth in the Champion Hurdle from a 150/1 SP.

Glory And Fortune is well worth a look in this one, because the further distance may aid his claims.

Tip: EPATANTE 15/8

Ones to watch: Zanair 2/1, Glory And Fortune 12/1

PORLOCK BAY didn’t go to the Cheltenham Festival this year, so he arrives at Aintree nice and refreshed. That could give him a chance.

There was a good win for him in last year’s Cheltenham Hunter Chase.

A runner up spot on his latest effort at Bangor saw Porlock Bay stay in strong form.

CAT TIGER won on his penalty run, a 3m trip around Ascot in a handicap back in January.

Cat Tiger was then sent to Kim Muir on his latest, and that didn’t suit him at all. So much so that it can be excused and he still gets on the shortlist.

JETT has been in good form this season, just as he was in hunters efforts in the previous campaign.

There was a runner-up spot for Jett in last year’s renewal of this contest.

He was edged down into second place on his latest run at Fontwell but arrives in very good heart.

Tip: CAT TIGER 13/2

Ones to watch: Jett 3/1, Porlock Bay 7/1

BEFORE MIDNIGHT looks to be in the shape for a good challenge in this one.

He picked up back to back wins at the start of the season. The latest of those was a narrow success at Ascot back in November.

Before Midnight was sent to a Grade 2 to try and land the hattrick but that was a little out of reach.

But he returned to form on his follow up with a runner-up spot at Doncaster.

FRERO BANBOU was a fourth-place finish in last year’s renewal of this contest and there has been further progress this season.

The pick of his form was a victory at Lingfield in January on a 2m trip.

He was a fairly close third-place finisher at the Grand Annual last month, so Frero Banbou has claims.

KING D’ARGENT may be worth a look as well in this one. He won three times last year over the fences.

The most recent of those was around a year ago. He hasn’t quite been as consistent this season.

King D’Argent did put together a bold runner-up finish on his latest run. That big return to form could give him something to build on.

Tip: BEFORE MIDNIGHT 6/1

Ones to watch: King D’argent 15/2, Frero Banbou 11/2

ASHROE DIAMOND picked up a win on her debut. She has since taken her form forward well enough.

There was a good effort in a Grade 2 at Leopardstown on her latest run. Ashroe Diamond comes from a top yard with major claims.

KATEIRA picked up a victory on her debut. That was at Huntington in February.

She stormed that one by more than five lengths and clearly has a lot more ability to unlock and could feature well.

LADY EXCALIBUR also makes it onto the shortlist in this one. There has been some good form from her bumpers.

Lady Excalibur took down a big field over course and distance in October.

She has been away since and has Rachael Blackmore booked for Thursday’s run, so has probably been targeted for this.

ILIADE ALLEN claimed a victory at Warwick on her second racetrack appearance.

She then was a runner up at Cheltenham at the start of the year.

Iliade Allen has since moved to new connections, now going for Paul Nicholls for the first time.

Tip: ASHROE DIAMOND 5/1

Ones to watch: Lady Excalibur 8/1, Iliade Allen 101
