Amir Khan v Phil Lo Greco Boxing Odds & Predictions – 21st April 2018

Canadian to stick around for a while against Khan

Sports Betting

Amir Khan gets back into action on the weekend which will be the British fighter’s first bout since losing to Canelo Alvarez in May last year. That loss left Khan with a 31-4 career record and will be looking to grind his way back into winning form at the Echo Arena, Liverpool on Saturday as he takes on Canada’s Lo Greco.

There has been a lot of changes in Khan’s professional career since that last fight, having changed out his backroom team and switched promoters to Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Sports. The former World Champion will be going into this bout as the odds-on favourite, and this fight really is just about a stepping stone to getting his career back on track to get back to the top of the sport.

Down the line, Khan’s future is probably going to collide with fellow British fighter Kell Brook. That seems something of a certainty now that they two are under the umbrella of the same promoter. Khan is the 1/33 odds-on favourite at bet365* (betting odds taken on April 17th, 2018 at 4:02 p.m.) to win Saturday’s fight and so you are going to have to go shopping around for any real value on this fight.

Khan, whose weak chin has seriously come into question, should have enough to stop his opponent in this one. He is 1/3 odds* (betting odds taken on April 17th, 2018 at 4:02 p.m.) for a KO TKO or Disqualification success which still doesn’t offer the punter much to chew on. But it is just another indicator of how easy this fight is expected to be for him.

Lo Greco is a former WBC International Welterweight champion winning the title back in 2010. This will be the Canadian’s first fight in almost two years and the 33-year-old carries a 29-3 career record into it, each of those losses coming in his last six fights. He had his big moment in the sun back in the summer of 2016 when he was stopped in Las Vegas by Errol Spence Jr and hasn’t met top opposition since then.

Predictions

Lo Greco is likely to be out of his depth in terms of quality against Khan but that does in a way put more pressure on Khan. Matchroom Sports have hyped up their fighter saying that everyone is going to see a new Khan, one who get back on track and challenge for belts. An upset doesn’t look on the cards here but look for the Canadian to stick around and 7/5 odds on the fight ending in Rounds 7-12* (betting odds taken on April 17th, 2018 at 4:02 p.m.)  looks viable.
