After his steady progress through the first week of Grand Slam action at Wimbledon, Andy Murray has started to receive plenty of backing in the outright winner market. He steps out into action again on Monday in fourth round action against Benoit Paire. Murray is heavy 1/10 odds on favourite to win the match and keep his march to a potential title defence going.
This will only be the second meeting between Murray and Frenchman Paire. The only previous meeting between the two was back at the ATP World Tour Masters 1000 Monte Carlo last year on the clay which Murray won in three sets after dropping the first one heavily. So this will be their first match up on grass and it’s hard to see expert of the surface, Murray, losing this one. Even though he looks more prone to dropping sets than any of the other big four, Murray is mixing it up well.
He is playing with a lot of aggression and seems to be pretty pumped up for this one. Paire had a 20/19 win/loss record for the season ahead of Wimbledon, so nothing spectacular there. He did get to the semifinals of the Mercedes Cup in Stuttgart as part of his warm-up for Wimbledon. Paire has yet to drop a set so far at Wimbledon 2017 but he is naturally going to have his hands full here. He booked a win over Jerzy Janowicz in the last round to set this up, but can be an up-and-down type of player who carries a big serve.
Murray though has a tremendous 95-14 career record against French players and Paire is a big 6/1 price to pull off a win in this one.
