There has been some frustrations around Stamford Bridge about Chelsea’s struggles recently and in their EFL Cup semi final second leg defeat against Arsenal, Conte was unhappy about having to rely on new signing Ross Barkley to come on after half an hour after the inspirational Willian had to go off with a hamstring tweak. Barkley has played little football this season and has only been with his new club for a couple of weeks following his transfer from Everton.

Conte’s had his frustrations of the club’s transfer policy, of which he says he doesn’t have a say in who the club signs, and the club have been linked with centre forwards to try and help out their tired and bruised up squad at the moment. With star signing Alvaro Morata out with a back injury and back up Michy Batshuayi not being shown too much trust by the boss, Chelsea have been linked with players like Peter Crouch, Edin Dzeko and Andy Carroll.

Ladbrokes have a price of 4/1 odds on Conte being in charge at Chelsea next season as they face the possibility of finishing the season without silverware. They have no chance of winning the Premier League, while the EFL Cup chance has passed them by and they have a tough draw against Barcelona to deal with in the UEFA Champions League when it resumes in February. So the prospects of success this season are pretty slim.

He has been linked with PSG although boss Unai Emery isn’t exactly doing anything wrong there, but his future could all hinge on how well they perform in the UEFA Champions League this season, as they get to duel with Real Madrid in a huge round of sixteen tie.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “Things aren’t going well on or off the pitch for Chelsea right now. We know Abramovich doesn’t mess around when it comes to managers, but it looks as though Conte may already have a new job waiting for him.”
