Armie Hammer 7/2 favourite to be next Batman

Affleck not returning as Caped Crusader

Novelty Betting & Other Events Betting

The search for a new Caped Crusader is underway. Ben Affleck has decided that he isn’t going to be reprising his role as Batman in the movie franchise. The next release is “The Batman” due to open in 2021 which is set to focus on the young Bruce Wayne.

Affleck, 46, has played Batman in “Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice,” “Suicide Squad” and “Justice League” but has decided the latest one isn’t right for him.

So that has sparked plenty of betting interest at bookmaker Boylesports on just who the next Batman will be.

Hammer time

“The Batman” will be directed by Matt Reeves and is going to lean on more of the detective work that the hero does. The release date is actually set for June 25th, 2021 which sounds a long way off, but is only two and half years away.

Armie Hammer is the current outright favourite at 7/2 in the Next Batman betting odds* (betting odds taken from Boylesports on February 6th, 2019 at 10:36 pm). He was pencilled in to play the Caped Crusade in Justice League: Mortal but the movie never got made. But the fact that Hammer was a fit for the role at least gives punters a bit of a something to go by in this market.

Of the other front-runners, Jake Gyllenhaal has come out before with a definite no on the option of being Batman. Punters will also be able to see from the list that there are actors there like Josh Brolin, Chris Evans and Chris Pratt who have all appeared in Marvel adaptations of superhero movies. Batman is from the rival DC Entertainment.

A move for youth

It is just a crap shoot really. There are rumours that Matt Reeves has been taking a look at Jack O’Connell. The biggest hint though that the director has given is that he taking the franchise in the direction of the younger Bruce Wayne for this one. That would naturally lean towards the chosen one being a younger, rather than an older option.
