Arsenal News and Form

The Gunners suffered a 1-0 away loss at West Ham last weekend and that continued their poor form out on the road. But the flip side of that is that they are going so well at home. So it’s balancing out for them at the moment in a way. Arsenal are undefeated in their last ten Premier League home games. That’s where they are at at the Emirates. On home soil in the top flight, they have averaged over two goals a game.

Less than half of the games at the Emirates have gone over 2.5 goals though which is a not to their defence. They have conceded at under a goal per game on average on home soil in the top flight this term. They have actually taken a clean sheet in three home games this season, although home and away combined they have not managed one in any of their last six. Arsenal’s overall home record in the EPL this season is W8 D2 L1 and that does suggest they are going to pose some problems to their London rivals in this one.

So far this season Arsenal have faced each of the current top three at home in the league. They drew against Liverpool, lost against Man City and beat Spurs. So it’s not been terrible at home from them in the big games. Six of their eight home wins this season have been by a two-goal margin so that could be a little trend worth having a look at. The Gunners do pose an attacking threat as they are on a ten-match scoring streak at home. Arsenal have scored 10 and conceded 0 goals in the final fifteen minutes of home matches this term

Arsenal v Chelsea Head to Head

The Blues earned a 3-2 home win over Arsenal earlier this season
The Blues are unbeaten in four EPL games against the Gunners (W2 D2)
Arsenal are undefeated in two at home against the Blues in the League (W1 D1)
Four of the last five league meetings have gone over 2.5 goals

Key-Facts – Arsenal v Chelsea

  • Arsenal have not conceded a home goal in the final fifteen minutes of a match this season
  • The Gunners have hit the back of the net in each of their last ten home games going unbeaten in that sequence
  • Chelsea are on a three match winning streak away from home in the Premier league

Chelsea News and Form

Chelsea pulled out a 2-1 home win over Newcastle last weekend, although it wasn’t the most convincing of displays, at least not in the first half. They are still badly missing an outright number nine. Still, the three points collected from the game has left hem on a four-match undefeated streak of form with the Blues having won three of the games in that sequence. They have only suffered one defeat in their last seven league fixtures now in a W5 D1 L1 record so are doing alright. Chelsea’s overall away record is pretty strong at W7 D1 L2 this season.

Chelsea have only been away at one of the current top-five sides this season and that didn’t go well for them. They lost 3-1 at Spurs. Currently Chelsea have put together a three-match winning streak away from home in the top flight and each of those victories were by a one-goal margin. In total Chelsea have scored 19 and have conceded 8 away goals this season.

They have picked up a clean sheet in five of their ten on the road so have had their defensive strengths as well as luck along the way. Those clean sheets have not been as frequent lately though as they have taken just one in their last five games. 80% of Chelsea’s road games in the EPL this season have ended over 2.5 goals. In just one away match this season as Chelsea been losing at the halftime break.

Chelsea do have scoring form on the road as they have netted in each of their last seven games. They have actually opened the scoring in eight of their away games in the Premier League this season. They are pushing on for a top-four finish, only Tottenham and Liverpool have managed to post better away records in the top flight this season than Chelsea have. On top of that Chelsea have the joint second-best defensive record in the league

Arsenal v Chelsea Predictions

Arsenal to win: The Gunners may be able to find themselves an edge in the attacking department on home soil. Things haven’t been great from them lately, but Chelsea, even though they have been getting the results, haven’t been playing all that great. Home win.
