Arsenal then will have been pretty happy with their success over Bayern Munich in midweek. Their first goal came after Bayern had put through their own net. The Londoners managed to get a win as Eddie Nkeitah popped up two minutes from time with a winner. Before that, Arsenal had a 3-0 warm-up win over the Colorado Rapids on Tuesday, both of those games out in the USA. So next up for them is Serie A side Fiorentina and following that the Gunners will face Real Madrid.
There has been little to note about Arsenal’s summer transfer action. They have tried to get Wilfried Zaha and Keiran Tierney, but low-ball bids for both have been turned away by Crystal Palace and Celtic respectivley. Naturally, they have been having a good look at their youth. They may have to if the reports are true that they don’t have a lot of money in the bank to spend. They were very poor defensively last season, conceding 51 goals in their Premier League campaign. It’s an area in which they need to work.

Fiorentina faced Guadalajara on Tuesday in what was the opening game of this summer’s International Champions Cup. The Italians took a 2-1 win that game after having fallen behind. They were only trailing the Mexican side for two minutes before they pulled themselves level. Giovanni Simeone, son of Atletico Madrid manager Diego, got Fiorentina’s first goal in the game.
With them getting among the goals, hopefully, this means that this is going to be a reasonably open game with the goals flowing. After this, the Italians will close out the ICC summer against Benfica. This is a big summer for the Viola. They were just bought out by Italian-American billionaire Rocco Commisso. Last season they only finished four places above the drop zone. The injection of new money could have taken them in a positive direction.
