Arsenal vs Vitoria de Guimaraes Predictions & Betting Odds – 24th October 2019

Comfortable home win for the Gunners

Arsenal vs Vitoria de Guimaraes Betting Tips – UEFA Europa League, 24th October 20.00pm

Unai Emery’s Arsenal welcome Ivo Vieira’s Vitoria de Guimaraes to the Emirates Stadium for a UEFA Europa League group game on Thursday night. The Gunners lead the way in Group F with six points to their name, while Vitoria have lost both of their opening Europa League group fixtures. The hosts are the strong favourites in this one, and the Premier League outfit should be too good for their Portuguese opponents.

Arsenal News and Form – Nine points out of nine for the Gunners?

Unai Emery’s Arsenal have picked up two comfortable Europa League victories so far. The Gunners kicked off their European campaign with a routine 3-0 away win at Eintracht Frankfurt, with Joe Willock, Bukayo Saka and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang on the scoresheet in Germany.

The Londoners then thumped Standard Liege at the Emirates on matchday two, cruising to a 4-0 victory on home soil. Arsenal raced into a 3-0 lead before half time, with Gabriel Martinelli scoring twice and Joe Willock netting. Dani Ceballos added a fourth 12 minutes after the break.

After Monday night’s poor 1-0 Premier League loss to Sheffield United at Bramall Lane, Emery will be looking for a positive response from his players in this one. The Gunners, who reached the Europa League final last season, have been superb in Europe so far this term, and they should make it nine points out of nine on Thursday.

Arsenal vs Vitoria de Guimaraes Head to Head

Thursday’s Europa League meeting at the Emirates will be the first ever fixture between Arsenal and Vitoria de Guimaraes. The pair will then lock horns at the Estadio D. Afonso Henriques in Guimaraes, Portugal in early December for the reverse game.

Key-Facts – Arsenal vs Vitoria de Guimaraes

  • The Gunners have a 100% record in EL Group F
  • Vitoria have lost both of their group games so far
  • Guimaraes have won one of their last four in all competitions

Vitoria de Guimaraes News and Form – Heavy defeat for the Portuguese side?

Vitoria de Guimaraes finished fifth in the Portuguese top flight last season, booking their place in the Europa League qualifying rounds as a result. Guimaraes then beat Jeunesse, Ventspils and Steaua to seal their passage through to the group stage.

Guimaraes have had a tough time in Group F so far, though, losing both of their opening games without scoring. Having kicked off with a 2-0 defeat to Liege in Belgium, Vitoria then lost at home to Frankfurt, with Evan N’Dicka’s first-half goal giving Eintracht all three points at the Estadio D. Afonso Henriques.

Guimaraes would love to kick-start their Europa League campaign with a positive result in London in midweek, but Arsenal should be too hot to handle for Ivo Vieira’s troops.

Arsenal vs Vitoria de Guimaraes Predictions

Arsenal win: The Gunners have been in excellent form on their own patch this season, winning five and drawing one of six league and cup fixtures at the Emirates. Meanwhile, Arsenal have lost just once in the Premier League since Emery’s first game in charge back in August 2018 – a 2-0 defeat to champions Manchester City.

The Londoners have dominated their opening two Europa League fixtures this season, and they will be expecting to ease past Guimaraes in the English capital on Thursday. I’m backing the home team to win both halves of this one, which is available at 6/4. Arsenal will be looking to dominate from start to finish, so check out the odds of 8/11 for Emery’s side to be winning at half time and full time.
