There is Grade 1 racing betting to look at for Saturday as we focus on the Clarence House Chase racing odds.

There is only a small field of four declared runners for this year’s renewal.

But there is still a headline show that is going to go down as Shishkin and Energumene face off in a mouthwatering prospect.

Who wins this big duel? Who will preserve their unbeaten record?

What implications will this have for another potential showdown at the Champion Chase in March?

It’s a big one and we look at all of the runners in the Clarence House Chase racing odds preview.

Shiskin 4/6 FAV in Ascot Clarence House Chase Racing Odds

Here we are then, the one that we want to see, a Grade 1 clash between SHISHKIN and ENERGUMENE.

Nicky Henderson’s Shishkin, uneaten over the fences, is the current 4/6 favourite* (odds recorded at 08:39 GMT on January 21st, 2022 at Coral).

He is something special and was last seen continuing his progress with a routine victory at Kempton in a Grade 2 last month.

That was as easy as you like and it was Shishkin’s first run after a wind op.

Last year’s Arkle winner at Cheltenham firmly confirmed his status as a top-class novice.

Now he faces the biggest challenge of his career. Will he follow in the footsteps of Altior and Sprinter Sacre from the same stable and win this?

Can Energumene bring down Shishkin

It barely registers that this is just a small field, because of ENERGUMENE and Shiskin looking untouchable.

Energumene is undefeated as well in his career over the fences.

The Irish challenger was pushed on in a Grade 2 contest at Cork last month to get himself primed for this.

He won it, extending his unbeaten form.

There was some beautiful jumping form by him in that one.

He is a big player for Willie Mullins and will head to this year’s Cheltenham Festival regardless, as one of the potential big stars of the entire show.

Energumene is not to be written off in this big showdown from 13/8* (odds recorded at 08:39 GMT on January 21st, 2022 at Coral)

Can First Flow defend?

Also in the hunt for success is FIRST FLOW at 9/1* (odds recorded at 08:39 GMT on January 21st, 2022 at Coral)

First Flow won last year’s Clarence House Chase and is a high-class chaser in his own right.

But he has two major rivals to try and upset.

The 10-year-old returned to action for the first time this season with a victory in the Peterborough Chase at Huntingdon.

He’s clearly not lost anything since his break.

But having to take down both Shishkin and Energumene, well, that’s a big ask of him.

What can Amoola Gold do?

AMOOLA GOLD looks as if he could be well out of his depth at Ascot on the weekend.

His massive 80/1 odds indicate that* (odds recorded at 08:39 GMT on January 21st, 2022 at Coral).

He has been a smart chaser and picked up a course and distance win on his reappearance.

On his latest, he made no headway whatsoever in the 2m Cheltenham handicaps.

There’s nothing in his previous form that suggests he’s up to this challenge.

Predictions & Tips for Ascot Clarence House Chase Racing Odds

SHISKIN or ENERGUMENE? That’s basically the question for this one and we have to stick with the favourite.

Shiskin at 4/6 is the pick* (odds recorded at 08:39 GMT on January 21st, 2022 at Coral).

He was as good as ever with a facile win on his reappearance in a Kempton Grade 2 last month.

As good as Energumene is looking, Shishkin just looks to have the edge. He’s proved himself massively last season and can kick on further.
