Thyme Hill 13/8 FAV in Ascot Long Walk Hurdle Racing Odds

THYME HILL knows what this is all about having taken a runner-up finish twelve months ago.

He was just touched off in that one, so is capable of getting there. There was some top form from Thyme Hill last season.

All three of the runs that he took on were of high quality, the pick of the form being his win in the Aintree Stayers’ Hurdle in April.

Thyme Hill was underwhelming on his reappearance.

That happened 42 days ago in France where conditions underfoot didn’t help him in his bid over the timbers there.

But without question, Thyme Hill should make his presence felt on Saturday and is the 13/8 favourite in Long Walk Hurdle racing odds* (odds recorded at 17:48 GMT on 17th December 2021 at Coral)

Ronald Pump good enough to challenge

There should be a big effort coming from RONALD PUMP in this fixture. Last year he was runner up in the Stayers’ Hurdle.

After an indifferent start to this season with his reappearance, Ronald Pump stepped forward on his follow up with a nice return to form.

He took second place in the Hatton’s Grace at Fairyhouse three weeks ago

That’s the form that should get him well involved at Ascot on Saturday.

The extra bit of trip that he takes on Saturday is probably going to unlock more from him and Ronald Pump is a 7/2 option* (odds recorded at 17:48 GMT on 17th December 2021 at Coral).

Can Paisley Park get a revival done?

Two-time Long Walk winner PAISLEY PARK is back in action in a race at which he thrives. He took it twelve months ago.

Paisley Park hasn’t been at his sharpest this season, but is a revival out of the question?

It has been back to back third-place finishes for him this season.

He took on the Long Distance Hurdle at Newbury last month.

It was a third-place finish there for Paisley Park behind Thomas Darby, who he goes back up against on the weekend.

On his day Paisley Park is one of the top hurdlers around. The tongue strap is tried for the first time in hopes of boosting the revival.

Paisley Park is a quote of 8/1 to land the win in horse racing betting* (odds recorded at 17:48 GMT on 17th December 2021 at Coral).

Can Champ pull his weight?

Entering the frame as no forlorn hope is CHAMP who will look to king things on what will be his reappearance.

Champ claimed the 2020 Cheltenham Festival win in the RSA Chase.

This year he went back to the Festival and straight into the Gold Cup.

He limped in that one, jumping really badly on the day before being pulled up. Champ has been out of action since then.

Coming back for a reappearance over the hurdles looks like a good move and there may be reasonable place claims for the 9-year-old if he gets his jumping right.

Champ is a quote of 5/1 to land the win* (odds recorded at 17:48 GMT on 17th December 2021 at Coral).

Thomas Darby worth his place

This is a high-class renewal of this fixture and well worthy of his spot in the lineup is THOMAS DARBY.

This is going to be all about what progress he can find.

He’s not also in the right frame of mind but he put things together well to take the Long Distance Hurdle three weeks ago.

That was by a fair margin as well, finishing ahead of a few of these rivals, including On The Blind Side and Paisley Park.

So, Thomas Darby, had that good return to form last time out then. If he’s able to build on that then he could finish himself on the fame.

He’s not to be totally discounted from a quote of 7/1* (odds recorded at 17:48 GMT on 17th December 2021 at Coral).

The Rest of the Runners

LISNAGAR OSCAR really hasn’t put anything of note together since winning the Stayers’ at last year’s Festival.

He had nothing in the tank in his last, which was the Long Distance Hurdle.

THIRD WIND makes an appearance here after a break of 8 months. There’s not been too much in his previous form to suggest that he takes this.

There was promise when he won the Rendlesham at Haydock but failed to complete the Stayers Hurdle on his follow up.

ON THE BLIND SIDE is a capable one. He is the stablemate of Buzz, who has sadly been declared a non-runner.

But On The Blind Side was likely lining up as the second fiddle to that one. He’s capable as he was second in the Long Distance Hurdle showed, but more will be needed.

Predictions & Tips for Ascot Long Walk Hurdle Racing Odds

We are going straight to THYME HILL as the 13/8 favourite in this contest* (odds recorded at 17:48 GMT on 17th December 2021 at Coral).

He knows what this is about after being narrowly touched off in last year’s renewal.

Thyme Hill’s reappearance can be excused and he should be right there.

RONALD PUMP looks capable and this is his best trip. So he should firmly be in the frame and rates as the biggest danger to the favourite.

The other that we would suggest for the shortlists in horse racing betting is PAISLEY PARK. He hasn’t hit top form this season, but will probably be well tuned-up for this one.
