We have an existing sprint on our hands here and CHIL CHIL is the current 7/2 favourite for the fixture* (betting odds taken from Betway at 23:09 GMT on Friday, 7th August 2020).

She made a very positive return to action at Bath when she claimed a runner-up spot. There is a lot more improvement to come from her by the looks of it.

Chil Chil was in cracking form last year, has had wind surgery and is a big player in this field.

EQUITATION is a former course and distance winner. On his last run he was out at Ascot in a 5f contest in which he finished second.

He is 1lb down from that mark and he should be able to bring some big claims in this one. Equitation looks sharp enough to handle the step back up and could be in the frame.

THEOTHERSIDE has masses of appeal for this run. She comes up 7lb because of some sparkling form and has landed three wins in five starts.

This should be some race and the market is being led by SHELIR at 10/3* (betting odds taken from Betway at 23:09 GMT on Friday, 7th August 2020).

He has been proving himself with some strong form in very tough handicap action recently.

The pick of the bunch was a 5th place at Buckingham Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot. Because of that he brings solid claims to take a step forward and claim a win.

KASBAAN brings some appeal to us in this market. He is looking for his first score on turf but he doesn’t look too far away from getting one.

He had a massive effort in his last race, a 7f handicap effort a couple of weeks ago at the course and the 5 year old took sixth in the International Stakes.

JALAAD is another that has to be respected. He came good on his last run wearing the cheek pieces for the first time.

He will retain those after a very positive 1m trip at York. Jalaad gets a 5lb rise but that doesn’t look to be too inhibitive.

Race Favourite

This race is going to be one of the highlights of the day from Ascot on Saturday.

The market leader, in what should be a wide-open competitive race, is AUSTRALIS at 9/4* (betting odds taken from Betway at 23:09 GMT on Friday, 7th August 2020).

He has been bang in form and narrowly missed out on the Northumberland Plate at Newcastle on his last effort.

There is a question mark about his ability to score on turf, but his form overall isn’t in question and should be a leading player.

HOLY KINGDOM is worth keeping on the shortlist for this contest. He returned to action this season in impressively progressive fashion. He won his first two races back.

There was a poorer effort from Holy Kingdom last time out on the all-weather, but that can be scratched. If he’s back on form, he’s in the frame.

CHARLIE D is not to be discounted from this fascinating fixture. He has won two of his last four and the conditions at the track surely will be a perfect fit for him.

He wasn’t great last time out on the all-weather, but back on the turf he should come back into his own.

The race favourite for his handicap is LOOK CLOSELY at 9/2* (betting odds taken from Betway at 23:09 GMT on Friday, 7th August 2020).

He grabbed a win over course and distance (and impressively so), a couple of weeks ago.

Look Closely takes a jump of 8lb for that and this is a tougher race. But still, the big claims are there and that win but a bad reappearance run firmly behind him.

The brilliant OMNIVEGA is on the prowl for a four-timer in this race. With an unbeaten return over three races, all on the all-weather, the switch to turf is fascinating.

But regardless, his score at Kempton was the best of his career and she is still on the up. Omnivega has to be respected and hasn’t looked back since being gelded.

CARADOC should enter the frame in this one. He had a fantastic 2019 and has been running better than recent results have shown.

He has also been doing his work against top fields as well and it’s worth having another look at.

Race Favourite

So this is a smaller field and the market leader for it is GRAND BAZAAR at 9/4* (betting odds taken from Betway at 23:09 GMT on Friday, 7th August 2020).

It’s easy to see why as he has won his last two trips for trainer John Gosden.

Those were at Windsor and Newmarket and Grand Bazaar only narrowly missed at Goodwood on his first effort this season.

WISE GLORY is in similar form to the favourite. He scored a second place on his return and then followed up with back to back wins.

The most recent of those was 1 1/2m in a Newmarket handicap. There’s plenty of potential on his side.

AL MADHAR was thrown in by Dante on just his third run. But after struggling up at that level, connections have dialed back the expectations a bit.

This will be his first crack at the handicap, and gives up weight to the rest of the field. Al Madhar’s a strong prospect nonetheless.
