Federer and Nadal showcase Qatar

Sports Betting

Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal are again the big attractions in Doha for the Qatar ExxonMobile Open tennis betting. Roger Federer is a three time champion of this season opener and starts off as the defending champion. There is always some publicity stunt ahead of this event, and this year, for the 20th anniversary of the Doha event, Federer and Nadal hit a ball around on a court which was floating on the water of Doha Bay. It will be back to business soon enough for the duo, and Federer, who beat Nikolay Davydenko in last year’s final, has to square up against the Russian in a tough looking first round match. Naturally, as top seeds, Nadal and Federer will be kept apart until the final. This is the first serious warm up for them both, after an exhibition tournament last week which was won by Novak Djokovic, and both have a lot to prove. Federer wants to prove that he can still be a Grand Slam champion, while Rafael Nadal has to get over a slump in form last season, along with a battle to be 100% fit. Nadal lost to David Ferrer last week in the Mubadal World Tennis Championship exhibition event, while Federer went down to Novak Djokovic. That left Federer to face Nadal in the third place match, which Nadal won in straight sets. After losing so easily 6-2 6-1 against Novak Djokovic in the semi’s there, Federer surely has to show something a little bit better here in Doha, where he enjoys playing.

This will be the fifth time that Nadal has showed up in Doha, but surprisingly he has yet to win a title there. He lost in the 2010 final against Nikolay Davydenko and already he has admitted that he has a lot of hard work to do in order to get back to world number one, and to stop Novak Djokovic from winning more tournaments. It was, by and large, a disappointing 2011 for Nadal, who did pick up the French Open but fell short in the other three Grand Slam attempts. Not expecting him to come out of the blocks firing ahead of this year’s Australian Grand Slam, but he will have been cheered by that victory over Federer last week, although he deservedly lost against Ferrer. So touches of unpredictability about both of these here in your Doha Tennis betting. Hopefully we will have the big final which we will get to enjoy of Rafael Nadal v Roger Federer and the old rivalry can be renewed. Can we be looking at players outside of those two in our Doha Tennis betting odds? Realistically yes, because neither are infallible at the moment, although they naturally make the strongest bets. Jo Wilfried Tsonga may be worth a shout as he would run into Federer in the finals. The Frenchman had a decent season last year and seemed to have found another level of competitiveness. Up in the top half along with Rafael Nadal, the main name which jumps out is Gael Monfils, who goes as fourth seed. The Frenchman is always full of entertainment and running and should be in the latter stages.

The basic upshot of this, is that Nadal and Federer should still make it through to the final. So they will be worth tossing a coin over for your Doha Tennis Betting. Then would take a look at the two Frenchmen behind them. Federer is in the tougher bottom half of the draw, which is something to consider and would have to face Tsonga, who is a tougher proposition than Monfils for Nadal.
