ATP Kuala Lumpur Tennis Betting Info
It is the early stages of the Asian swing of the men’s circuit for your tennis betting and the feature tournament for this week is going to be the Malaysian Open in Kuala Lumpur. This is an ATP World Tour 250 tournament, one of the lower tiered events on the circuit and why there is not so many of the big guns out and about right now. This is only the fourth edition of the event.

ATP Kuala Lumpur Tennis Betting Defending Champion
The defending champion is not back for the defence of his title. Serbia’s Janko Tipsarevic took the honours here last season The only previous champion of the event in the field is Nikolay Davydenko who won the inaugural tournament back in 2009.

ATP Kuala Lumpur Tennis Betting Favourite
Spain’s David Ferrer goes as the favourite this week and is the stand out talent in the field and should be worth backing as he is just in the positive at the start of pre-tournament betting. Just as Jo Wilfried-Tsonga took the title as clear top ranked player in Metz, so too David Ferrer should take the title here this week. He is riding some great form at the moment as he pushed Novak Djokovic really hard in the semi final of the US Open at Flushing Meadows recently and helped Spain book their place in the David Cup final as well. The world number five is the star attraction in the field and as long as he brings his A-game and concentration then it hard to see where he is going to get bettered. Ferrer has played here before, making a semi final run in 2010 and with five ATP World Tour titles under his belt at the moment this season, trading at a price of 6/5 with online bookmaker Bet365, Ferrer looks a pretty sound bet.

Other Contenders
Kei Nishikori will be hoping for a successful swing out in Asia and was a semi finalist here last year. The Japanese world number 17 is still looking for his first title of the season. Nishikori is capable of pulling off big shocks, not that there are many in the field waiting to happen. However, the Japanese star went on a strong run of three quarter final appearances in a row, culminating at the London 2012 Olympics. Interestingly at the Olympics, he beat Nikolay Davydenko and David Ferrer on the way to the quarters.

Alexandr Dolgopolov probably should make a bit of a strong run here. He entered back in 2010 and went out in the second round. The Ukraine has come on leaps and bounds since there. He was ranked 55th in the world when he entered a couple of years ago and is now inside the top twenty. His form has been pretty hit and miss, but he was a winner in Washington at the end of July and made a quarter final run in Winston-Salem. Has been resting up since an earlier than expected exit from the US Open.

Argentina’s Juan Monaco needs a good performance this week. There is still a chance that he could make it to the Barclays ATP World Tour Final in November. Really needs to kick things up a gear though but a win would help immensely. However, he needs to break out of a sticky patch of form which has seen him win just two of his last seven matches. Not great form and this will be his début at the event. Still, he is ranked 11th in the world and has three titles under his belt this year with a 33-15 match record for 2012. Has the most to gain with a win this week.

Best Outside Bet
Nikolay Davydenko may just be worth a shot. The veteran is a former champion here and he had a pretty good run last week in Metz, getting to the semi finals. You aren’t going to see the Russian running deep into tournaments too often these days, but will probably enjoy being back here. Not seeded for the event but is in the opposite half of the draw from favourite David Ferrer which may help.
