Black Lotus the 7/4 FAV in Rothesay Stakes
There was a good third-place finish for BLACK LOTUS on her reappearance last month. She took a third-place finish at Nottingham.
She had a couple of runners in this field behind her, getting the better of A La Voile and Arriviste on the day.
This will be the first run at Ayr for Black Louts who does look a big threat.
The race at Nottingham on her appearance really didn’t unfold to her favour, so she does retain plenty of potential.
Black Lotus is a good performer at this distance and we expect her to be right back in the mix. She comes in at a quote of 7/2* (betting odds recorded 17:14 GMT on 18th May 2021 at Betfred).
A La Voile to have a bold say
We do expect a good bold showing to come from A LA VOILE on Wednesday. She was fourth behind Black Lotus at Nottingham recently.
That was also a reappearance run for A La Voile. She has enough to warrant her place on the shortlist in this one.
Last season A La Voile kicked things off with three straight victories and with a credible reappearance under her, looks promising.
She enters the fray as the 4/1 second-favourite* (betting odds recorded 17:14 GMT on 18th May 2021 at Betfred).
Arriviste is not without a chance
The other potential big player in this contest is ARRIVISTE who was fifth at Nottingham behind both Black Lotus and A La Voile on her reappearance.
That run three weeks ago saw Arriviste actually shaped well in the contest. The race didn’t pan out for her, but there was something to like there.
So we don’t think that Arriviste can be taken lightly as she comes back into action here.
It’s been a while since she won, but last summer she battled well in a French Group 3 contest so the ability is there.

Kaleidoscopic could have a shout for Mick Channon
The form has been building from KALEIDOSCOPIC as well recently who is a longer 14/1 e/w shot* (betting odds recorded 17:14 GMT on 18th May 2021 at Betfred).
There have been back to back second-place finishes for Mick Channon’s four-year-old this season. The latest of those was three weeks ago in a Lingfield handicap.
This is a tougher test than anything she has been in before. Kaleidoscopic found herself up against a strong improver in both of those contests.
It will be interesting to see what she can do as place claims could be there on Wednesday.
The Rest Of The Runners
ANASTARSIA makes a return not having been seen since June last year. She was well down the field in the Group 2 Ribblesdale Stakes on that occasion. Hard to know what’s coming.
ANGEL OF THE GLEN enters after back to back runners-up finishes. This is a new trip for her and this is a big jump up in the quality of opposition.
ASTADASH gets the cheekpieces on for the first time. There’s nothing spectacular in her form to suggest that she is going to outrun her odds.
BHARANI STAR is not to be written out of this one. She is a competitive one and is well worth watching in the market on her reappearance. There’s been useful form in defeat.
PHOLAS has enjoyed a good time of things in the all-weather this year. She landed a double not too long ago. She was last seen in a Listed Goodwood fixture and wasn’t disgraced. Place claims are there.
PROPRIETY has had a good solid season, finishing in the top three in each of her three runs. There was one victory there. This is just a much tougher task.
Predictions & Tips for Rothesay Stakes Racing Odds
There is a good competitive field here with some strong claims coming in.
BLACK LOTUS looks just slightly the one to beat having beaten a couple of her rivals on her reappearance at Nottingham recently.
She may make a nice debut at Ayr as a 7/2 selection* (betting odds recorded 17:14 GMT on 18th May 2021 at Betfred).
The other obvious pick for us is A LA VOILE who was fourth in that contest behind Black Lotus. We think that she is going to be a little bit sharper and therefore closer this time around.
We also are very interested to see what KALEIDOSCOPIC can do in this kind of company. There has been plenty of promise from her so far.
