Barcelona News and Form – Can Barcelona earn three points against Dortmund?

Champions of Spain, Barcelona were a little lucky to get out of Germany with a point on Matchday One, as Dortmund missed a spot-kick against them in a 0-0 draw. Barcelona were second best in that fixture overall. But they have followed up well. Barcelona banked a 2-1 home win over Inter Milan on Matchday Two. Then they added a 2-1 win at Slavia Prague on Matchday Two but then were surprisingly held at the Nou Camp by the Czech side. It is an unbeaten run of 34 Champions League matches that Barcelona are currently on (W30 D4) at home, which is so impressive.

A win in this one and they top the group with a game to spare. The Catalans are on a three match winning streak at home against German visitors and in that sequence have tallied 9 goals, conceding 1. It has been 13 wins in their last 14 home games against Bundesliga teams so the statistics look good for them. In total, home and away in the UEFA Champions League, Barcelona have lost only two of their last 27 played (W16 D9). Last seasons in the group stage they took seven points at home and won all three of their knockout stage games at the Nou Camp too.

Barcelona vs Dortmund Head to Head

  • Barca have a W13 D1 record in their last fourteen at home against German visitors

Barcelona News and Form – Can Barcelona earn three points against Dortmund?

Dortmund then can book qualification with a win in Spain. However, they have managed to take just three wins in their last nine Champions League fixtures (D2 L4). Two of those three wins in that sequence have come in this season’s campaign, however. Those were victories out at Slavia Prague and then at home against Inter Milan. Those two victories are the only times in their last six Champions League fixtures in which Dortmund have scored. In their other away fixture in this group, the Bundesliga side lost 2-0 at Inter.

In their last 14 away games in European action, Dortmund have banked three wins only (D4 L7). Again there are signs of current improvement there too as each of those three wins have been in their last six road matches (L3) and all happened in the Champions League. The Germans have very little form in Spain however, as they have only taken one win there in their previous fifteen visitors (D5 L9). They have suffered a defeat on four of their last five trips there. Dortmund have taken one win in their last seven home and away fixtures against Spanish clubs.

Barcelona vs Dortmund Predictions

Barcelona to win: Dortmund couldn’t get on the board when they were on top of Barcelona back on Matchday One. They will find the going tougher at the Nou Camp and the home win looks the most plausible outcome here. Barcelona to win to nil.
