Barnsley v Leeds Betting Preview – Championship 25th November 12.30pm

This is a fixture in which both sides will need a win. Barnsley slipped to a midweek home defeat against top-side side Cardiff and home wins have been hard to come by for them this season. But by the same token, they have proven that they can be a tough side to beat. Leeds need to start gathering some away form to start getting some momentum back on their side to haul themselves back into the promotion race.

Barnsley v Leeds Betting Tips

Barnet have not been in bad form really with only the two defeats in their last nine league matches, so they have shown plenty of fighting spirit. They have produced a solid enough W2 D2 L1 record in their last five games and the lone defeat in that sequence happened against Cardiff in a 1-0 home defeat. Barnet have picked up a W3 D2 L4 record on home soil this season overall but they have only picked up the one home victory in their last six league fixtures at Oakwell. Each of the three wins that they have picked up at home have all been by the one goal margin so a Barnsley to win by a one goal margin at bet365 is a price of 13/8. Barnet have been ahead at the break in five of their nine home fixtures this season so they haven’t done all that bad. They have averaged just over a goal per game on home soil as well but they have failed to score in three of their nine home games (all defeats).

Tom Bradshaw is a 7/4 anytime goalscorer option for them going into this one and both teams to score at bet365 fetches a price of 4/6. Barnsley’s defence has picked up only the two clean sheets this season so there is a decent chance that they could concede in this one, and this game does have the look of being a tight affair between the two clubs. The 1-1 draw in the bet365 correct score market is the shortest priced point there with a 1-0 for Barnsley at 8/1. They should be confident of avoiding defeat considering the major problems that Leeds have had away from Elland Road recently. Leeds have now suffered five losses in their last six away games (W1) and that has played a large part of their overall decline that has been plaguing them since mid September. They have really crumbled apart since their strong start.

The Yorkshire side have collected eight defeats in their last eleven league matches and they are just getting picked off at the back time and time again. There was another bad struggle for them in midweek as they lost against Wolves at Molineux. This is all after Leeds had taken six clean sheets in their opening seven league games. Their top scorer this season is Pierre-Michel Lasogga is the 11/8 anytime goalscorer favourite for the match but of his five goals, only one of them have come out on the road. Only two sides have collected fewer league points in their last eight league games than Leeds have managed. But the Whites have netted in 75% of their away games this season in the second tier and they have scored first in half of their away games. They are in a mess out on the road and really struggling to get any positive momentum back into their season.

Barnsley v Leeds Predictions

The draw has the most appeal in this fixture because, with the number of deaths that Leeds have suffered away from home lately, they can’t wholeheartedly be trusted to put a win on the board in the game. The same can be said of Barnsley and their home form which has been nowhere near strong enough. Draw.
