Bayern Munich v PSG Betting Preview – UEFA Champions League 5th December 7.45pm

This is a big conclusion to the Group B duel for supremacy. Top spot is still up for grabs as these two heavyweights meet once more. Bayern have a lot of work to do to finish top of the group though at the expense of the French outfit, as they have to win this by a four-goal margin. That’s because of their heavy 3-0 in Paris against PSG earlier in the group. The Germans have to come out and attack if they are going to go through as a seeded team.

Bayern Munich v PSG Betting Tips

Bayern Munich have to have a huge night on home soil to win their group. They would have to claim a victory by a four-goal margin to beat PSG to top spot. It’s not all that likely and there is a huge 14/1 price at Paddy Power on a three-goal winning margin for them. They are in this position after losing 3-0 in Paris back on match day two and that was a result which saw Carlo Ancelotti lose his job with the Bavarian giants. The last time the Germans hosted a French side was in the 2012/13 Group Stage and Bayern Munich won that 6-1. Bayern’s overall record on home soil against French opposition in Europe is W10 D2 L3. They are on a three match winning streak at home as well against French clubs in Munich, which is after they only went D2 L2 in their previous four. Bayern have recorded 3-0 victories at home over both Celtic and Anderlecht so far in the group. The shortest priced option in the Paddy Power correct score market is the 1-1 draw while a 2-1 victory for the Germans is a 9/1 price. They are playing for pride in a victory really as they winning margin they need is likely out of reach.

They are a great form side on home soil in Europe though. Since losing 3-2 on home soil against Manchester City in their 2013/14 campaign, they have put together an eleven match winning streak. They have plenty of scoring threat through the incredible Robert Lewandowski who is the joint even money Paddy Power anytime goalscorer favourite alongside PSG’s Edinson Cavani. Lewandowski has scored 14 goals in 14 league games this season. There have been some injury issues for the Germans this season, but despite that, when Jupp Heynckes returned to the club to take over Ancelotti, he guided them to a nine-match winning streak which was snapped in a 2-1 defeat at Borussia Monchengladbach on November 25th. Both teams to score at Paddy Power returns a price of 4/9 as it looks extremely likely to happen. Real Madrid are the only side to have actually won at the Allianz Stadium in Europe in since the 2014/15 season, that’s in Bayern’s last 19 European games. They are a solid home side and there is decent 4/5 price at Paddy Power on a Bayern Draw No Bet.

The French side were so impressive in taking their 3-0 home victory over Bayern earlier in the group stage. The Parisians were on a great stretch of 25 matches unbeaten across all competitions before that streak was finally snapped with a 2-1 away defeat at Strasbourg on league duty on the weekend. On their travels in the group stage, they took convincing wins at Anderlecht and Celtic and they are unbeaten in their last three visits to Germany (W2 D1). Overall their away form in Germany is W3 D1 L3. If they could produce a victory in this one then they would become just the seventh team to win all six group matches in a single group stage campaign. They have already set a new record for the number of goals in a single group stage campaign with 24 of them and they still have this game to go. Neymar has netted in each of their five group games (no player has ever managed to do it in all six) and he is a 5/4 anytime goalscorer option. PSG have won seven of their last 11 away games (D1 L3) in the Champions League and they earned clean sheets against Celtic and Anderlecht, after failing to take any in their previous seven on the road. Edinson Cavani has registered 23 goals in 21 club outings this term and has 11 in his last 13 UEFA Champions League outings. He is even money to net in this one.

Bayern Munich v PSG Predictions

Back the steel of Bayern to come to the fore and land a victory in this one. They will be out to prove a good point after that loss in Paris earlier in the group stage. They are strong enough on home soil to make amends and collect a win in this one, but back both teams to score as well in the fixture. They may not do it by the four goal margin, but the Germans can win.
