Belgium News and Form – Huge margin of victory for the Belgians

Roberto Martinez’s Belgium have looked the real deal in qualifying so far, winning six out of six. The Belgians, who finished third in the 2018 World Cup in Russia, have scored a staggering 19 goals and shipped just one along the way.

After thumping San Marino 4-0 in Serravalle, Belgium then beat Scotland by the same scoreline in Glasgow in their last qualifier. Martinez’s men have not conceded a goal during qualifying since Denis Cheryshev scored for Russia in the opening game back in March.

Belgium, who are top of the FIFA World Rankings, will be one of the favourites to win the 2020 European Championship outright. Having won six out of six in qualifying, the Red Devils will be looking for another big Group I win on Thursday. This should be a stroll in the park for the home team.

  • San Marino have zero points to their name

San Marino News and Form – Can the minnows keep the scoring to a minimum in Brussels?

As is usually the case, San Marino have really struggled in European Championship qualifying. La Serenissima have lost all of their qualifiers up until now, scoring none and conceding 28.

In their previous Group I fixture, Franco Varrella’s boys were beaten 4-0 by Cyprus at the San Marino Stadium. The nation, who are ranked 210th out of 210 in the current World Rankings, have lost by four goals or more in five of their six qualifiers so far. They did manage to only lose to by two goals to nil to Scotland in Serravalle back in March.

This has the potential to be a nightmare evening in the Belgian capital for Varrella’s San Marino. The question is; how many will they lose by on Thursday?

Belgium v San Marino Predictions

Belgium win: The Belgians should win in Brussels without breaking a sweat on Thursday. Martinez could experiment with his squad, but whichever XI the Spaniard chooses to field should have far too much for San Marino to handle in this one.

When these two met in Serravalle last month, Belgium cruised to a 4-0 win. This will no doubt be another routine night for the Belgians, so have a punt on the home team to win -5 at 1/3.

In September’s fixture in San Marino, Belgium led at half time in the eventual 4-0 rout. In fact, Martinez’s troops have been leading at the break in all of their qualifiers so far. Expect the hosts to be winning at half time and full time (1/33) in this clash.
