Belgium News and Form

During the last intentional break, Belgium were in beast mode in front of goal. They returned seven unanswered goals in their two games against Scotland and Iceland. The game against Iceland was a 3-0 win for the Red Devils in what was their Nations League opener. It has been some form for them over the last couple of years, and they been beaten just once since the March 2017 international break.

That defeat was in the World Cup 2018 semi-final against France. They have won 16 of their last 19 games (W2 L1) in a tremendous run of form. They have banked a clean sheet in each of their last three, but Switzerland are in decent form and both teams to score is worth a flutter at 4/5 odds* (Betting Odds were taken from October 8th, 2018 at 5:08 p.m.).

Eden Hazard has been lighting up the Premier League in front of goal for Chelsea. Hazard is a 5/4 option in the anytime goalscorer market* (Betting Odds were taken from October 8th, 2018 at 5:08 p.m.). Romelu Lukaku is the outright odds-on favourite. Surprisingly there is very little history between Belgium and Switzerland. Their only previous meeting was in May 2016 with Belgium winning 2-1. Lukaku got their first and then Kevin de Bruyne got a late winner for the Red Devils. This is a straightforward tussle for top spot in the group.

Switzerland News and Form

Switzerland are heavy underdogs here and that’s nothing to do with how poor they may be. They are actually running in decent form. They opened their nations League account with a 6-0 drubbing of Iceland. They then made a bunch of changes in a 1-0 friendly loss against England in a dull encounter in the last international break.

The loss against the Three Lions leaves Switzerland with only the two defeats in their last dozen games which is pretty good really (W6 D4) so they have been shaping up well. Switzerland have netted at least two goals in three of their last five as well They have only failed to score in two of their last ten as well.

So we do like the option for Belgium v Switzerland predictions of both teams to score as well as the option of over 2.5 goals at 8/13 odds* (Betting Odds were taken from October 8th, 2018 at 5:08 p.m.). In their 6-0 win over Iceland, Switzerland’s goals all came from different players. Their shortest priced option in the anytime goalscorer market is Xherdan Shaqiri. The Liverpool man is their one special player who is able to produce a moment of magic. Switzerland are W3 D1 L2 in their last six away games (competitive and friendly).

Belgium v Switzerland Predictions

Belgium to win: Switzerland are not in bad shape at all and look a pretty handy side. But we still have to back the Red Devils to take them down. Belgium just look a very accomplished side and are just scoring for fun. Belgium to win & both teams to score.
