Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce landed a big coup for the club in bringing former Chelsea captain John Terry to Villa Park. With reported interest from Premier League clubs West Brom and Swansea, while Turkish side Galatasaray was also said to be interested along with potential big-money moves to the MLS. but instead, Terry has decided to step down a level and join Championship side Villa.
It would have been the joy at beating Midlands rivals Birmingham to Terry’s signature though which would have pleased Villa the most. If Aston Villa do earn that promotion back to the Premier League then it would end a short a two-year spell away from the top flight and with the addition of Terry there, it could work in Bruce’s favour in attracting other names. Bruce took over at Villa Park in October last year, guiding the Villains to a 13th place finish.
