Beverley 15:50 Racing Odds and Predictions June 11 – No hassle for Hesslewood at 10/1 with Bet365

Hesslewood's first-time record an encouraging sign

Horse Racing Betting

It hasn’t taken racing long to descend into the mundane after the initial starburst of energy which included two Classics. But it’s Royal Ascot next week (minus the fashions) so there is something to look forward to.
The Follow Us On Twitter For Raceday Updates Handicap is the feature at Beverley this Thursday, though that’s not say much.

Beverley Facts and Figures

Beverley, Humberside’s only racetrack, is one of those courses on which you might as well stay at home if you have a bad draw.
Wet weather can negate the advantage of having a starting position on the inside but there probably hasn’t been enough of the wet stuff around to make a discernible difference this week. A high draw can be the kiss of death in races up to a mile.
Tom Dascombe and David Loughnane are normally trainers to be respected in handicaps on the course and Danny Tudhope is the jockey to follow.

Secretarial has had to be treated with kid gloves but she looked a filly with a future when winning a Carlisle maiden just over a year ago.
Danny Tudhope was on board that day and is obviously keen to renew the partnership.
That Carlisle race could hardly have worked out any better with several of those behind going on to record victories. While an absence is not ideal, there looks a very good chance that the handicapper has let her in lightly at Beverley on a mark of 77 as she’s getting weight from some very exposed handicappers. Bookmakers are taking no chances in making her only a best 3/1.
Tudhope could have ridden Tukhoom for principal retainer David O’Meara, as he did when the gelding finished second at Southwell in December.
The cheekpieces are back on today and the seven-year-old had a wind operation in the spring but he’s never been a regular winner so is best regarded as an each-way saver at 10/1 with Paddy Power.
Candelisa was in good form on the all-weather earlier in the year and won on Turf last year, though is still 9lb higher.
He has a good draw but that may not be enough to get his head in front in this company at a best 7/1.
Dawaaleeb doesn’t have a good draw and it remains to be seen if his 25/1 victory at Newcastle in March was a fluke. One of his two wins on Turf in 2018 came at Beverley, however, so he’s not entirely without hope at the general 15/2.
Kylie Rules rattled up a four-timer at Beverley early last year and was later successful in a higher grade at Thirsk.
Ruth Carr’s mare ran well off her new mark at Ayr in the autumn but she is another who will start wide on the track and others make more appeal. The top weight is a best 10/1.
HESSLEWOOD could be a springer in the market judged on his best form being presently quoted at ???.
James Bethell’s runner is starting to slip down the weights despite being fairly consistent in handicaps last season.
He was just beaten off a 2lb higher mark at Haydock around this time last year so the 10/1 with Bet365 is probably too big considering he has won on his first appearance of the campaign in each of the last two years.
