Birmingham City News and Form – Can the Blues pick up a surprise victory on home turf?

Pep Clotet’s men head into this weekend’s clash having picked up just one win from their last seven league games. After an impressive victory at Reading last Saturday, the Blues will have been very disappointed with Wednesday night’s 2-0 home loss to Queens Park Rangers.

Birmingham secured three home victories in a row back in October, beating Middlesbrough, Blackburn Rovers and Luton Town (all by one goal). Since then, though, City have taken just one point from a possible nine at St Andrew’s, losing to Fulham and QPR and drawing with Millwall.

Slaven Bilic’s West Bromwich Albion were held to a 1-1 draw by lowly Wigan Athletic on Wednesday. A Sam Johnstone own goal gave the Latics a surprise lead, but Charlie Austin levelled things up just nine minutes later.

Leeds are the only team to have beaten West Brom in the Championship this season. The Baggies have been superb under Bilic, winning 13 of their 21 league fixtures thus far. Leeds and West Brom are both 11 points clear of third place Fulham.

24 of the Baggies’ 46 points have been earned away from The Hawthorns this term. Albion have the best away record in the division, winning seven, drawing three and losing only one. Will they pick up an eighth away league victory on Saturday?
