Birmingham v Fulham Betting Preview – Championship 6th May 12.30pm

Birmingham will be sweating on the final day of the season as they are only two points clear of the bottom three. So there is some work to do there for them and they could need other results to go their way to stay up. Fulham are in cracking form and they need to better whatever second-placed Cardiff manage on Sunday to replace them in the top two.

Birmingham News and Form

Birmingham have to win this to guarantee safety. A loss for them would mean that any of Bolton, Burton and Barnsley could overtake them, while a draw leaves them in danger still if two of those three win their games. So they need to focus and pull out a result at St Andrew’s, but they are facing a red-hot Fulham side. Birmingham are on a W3 D1 sequence of form though at home so that has been a big improvement from them. They did beat Sheffield United in their last home fixture. They don’t look reliable at the back still though, but have burst into life in front of goal at home, so both teams to score at bet365 is at 4/6 odds* (Betting Odds taken at 11:15 p.m. on May 1st, 2018). Tensions are going to be high in this one. The Blues have averaged under a goal per game at St Andrew’s, but are on a four-match scoring streak there. Just 32% of their home games have gone over 2.5 goals so look under the goal line for your betting. All but two of Birmingham’s home wins this season have been by a one-goal margin. The only respite they may get is that Burton and Barnsley, the two sides directly beneath them, both have very tough final games too.

Fulham News and Form

Fulham need to get one more win on the board to have a shot at winning automatic promotion. They start Sunday’s action a point behind second-placed Cardiff so they need the Bluebirds to slip up against Reading, which honestly doesn’t look all that likely. If Fulham and Cardiff finish level on points, the Cottagers would take second on goal difference. So all that Fulham can do is turn up, beat Birmingham and keep their fingers crossed that Reading do them a favour. It is a superb 23 match undefeated streak of form that Fulham are on and they are undefeated in their last eleven on the road. No-one will want to face them in the playoffs if that is where they ended up. Fulham have averaged 1.7 goals per away game this season and have netted in each of their last eleven away games. 64% of their away goals have come in the second half of matches. They do look too good to lose this really and worst case scenario is that they end up third so they can have a real go at this. A Fulham 2-1 correct score at bet365 is at 7/1 odds* (Betting Odds taken at 11:15 p.m. on May 1st, 2018).

Birmingham v Fulham Head to Head

Fulham bagged a 1-0 home win at Craven Cottage against the Blues in early December. That snapped a run of winless games that they were on against Birmingham. In the seven previous Championship matches, Birmingham are W3 D2 L2 against Fulham. Birmingham are W1 D1 L1 in their last three at St Andrew’s against the Cottagers.

Birmingham v Fulham Betting Odds*

Fulham 13/20, Draw 14/5, Birmingham 4/1* (Betting Odds taken at 4:15 a.m. on May 1st, 2018)

Birmingham v Fulham Predictions

Fulham should have enough to produce the three points in this one. They have been in spectacular form and they basically don’t have anything to lose at this point, but they have everything to gain if Cardiff slips up. Away win and Birmingham will be left sweating.
