Championship Betting

Blackburn v Aston Villa Betting Tips – Championship, 15th September 5.30pm

This should be a good competitive encounter between Rovers and Villa at Ewood Park on the weekend. Rovers have done well as they are holding ground in the middle of the Championship table. Villa are right there with them level on points as Steve Bruce’s men haven’t quite gotten themselves into top gear yet this term. Read our predictions for Blackburn v Aston Villa.

Blackburn News and Form

Rovers will be happy enough with the solid start to the season which they have produced. They were on a five-match undefeated streak of form from the start of the season. Not bad for a newly promoted side. Their first taste of defeat came in a heavy away loss against Bristol City before the international break. This season at Ewood Park in the Championship they are W1 D2 and have conceded in just one of those. So there is reason to suspect that this is going to be a low scoring game and under 2.5 goals is at 3/4 odds* (Betting Odds were taken on September 12th, 2018 at 1:14 p.m.).

They have come up with the three home goals in their three home games, conceding two. Their top scorer for this season is Charlie Mulgrew so he is going to be worth a look in the anytime goalscorer market from their side of things. We can only see this being a tight game, but Blackburn to win by a one-goal margin is at 3/1 odds* (Betting Odds were taken on September 12th, 2018 at 1:14 p.m.). The underdogs may be worth a little look in this one, even though it will be a test of character after now having taken their first defeat on the board.

Aston Villa News and Form

Aston Villa would have expected to have found themselves a bit higher up the table that they are. But things just have not been happening for them, it just hasn’t been going all their way. They opened the season well enough with back to back wins. They scored exactly three goals in both of those successes too. They haven’t won since and are D3 L1 in their last four. Just before the international break they went to Bramall Lane and got destroyed in a 4-1 defeat against Sheffield United. There are clear defensive issues with them.

They don’t have a clean sheet yet in this season of the Championship. They haven’t been goal-shy themselves so the obvious option is both teams to score at 4/5 odds which is worth a poke* (Betting Odds were taken on September 12th, 2018 at 1:14 p.m.). The Villains are averaging just under two goals per game this season which is solid. Going back to their defense record, no side has conceded more than they have done in this season’s Championship. Because of their defense and their current form, this isn’t going to be an easy trip to Ewood Park.

Blackburn v Aston Villa Head to Head

There was a home win for each when they met in last season’s Championship. They were both one-goal margin wins as well. In the last eight meetings between Blackburn and Villa there have been seven home wins (D1) so there is a strong trend there. Both teams have scored in all but one of the last six meetings. Blackburn are W2 D1 in their last three home games against Villa.

Blackburn v Aston Villa Predictions

Blackburn to win: We feel there is enough there to warrant the home win in our Blackburn v Aston Villa predictions. Rovers have held their own pretty well so far at Ewood Park and with Villa not firing on all cylinders just yet, a narrow home win looks ideal.
