Bolton v Aston Villa Betting Preview – Championship 17th March 5.30pm

Not many punters would have see the collapse that Aston Villa suffered at home against QPR in midweek. That put a dent in their great form but they are still well positioned to make a run at the play offs. It’s off to Bolton next for them and the Trotters will be looking to secure a least a point which could be precious for them as they are starting just the six points clear of the drop on the weekend.

Bolton News and Form

Bolton will be looking to snap a four-match winless streak of form (D3 L1) that they are on at the moment in the second tier. They are six points clear of the relegation zone in the Championship, so just need to keep themselves ticking over. They have been in pretty good form at home in the league as they have posted a great W4 D2 L1 record in their last seven on home soil. The loss was in their last home game against Preston at the start of March. In their 18 home games, this term the Trotters have returned a total of 21 goals and they have found the back of the net in each of their last seven league home fixtures. Both teams to score at Paddy Power is at 11/10 odds* (Betting Odds taken at 07:06 p.m. on March 14th, 2018). Of the thirteen second-half goals they have conceded this season at home, nine of them have been from the 75th minute onwards. Only Burton and Birmingham have scored fewer goals than what Bolton have managed this season and just three teams have conceded more.

Aston Villa News and Form

The Villains suffered a surprising setback in midweek as they lost 3-1 at home to QPR which makes this trip to Bolton a little trickier. Overall this season Villa are W9 D3 L6 for the season on their travels but they are carrying decent form away from Villa Park having gone W5 L1 in their last six road fixtures. The loss against QPR put a huge dent in their hopes of making it into the top two. It leaves them seven points behind second-placed Cardiff now, who won in midweek. Aston Villa have been level at half time in half of their away games and of the goals, they have conceded away from home, 61% of them have been after the break. So a half-time draw at Paddy Power for this one should have some appeal. Aston Villa have scored in 72% of their away matches. Villa’s top scorers on the road this season are Albert Adomah and Robert Snodgrass who have five each. Lewis Grabban and Scott Hogan are the 9/5 joint Paddy Power anytime goalscorer favourites for the fixture, Grabban having scored in three of Villa’s last four games.

Bolton v Aston Villa Head to Head

Bolton have lost two of their last three home games against the Villains, both by a one-goal margin. Villa took a 1-0 home win over the Trotters earlier in the season and that was their first meeting since coming together in the 2011/12 Premier League season when the two of them traded away wins.

Bolton v Aston Villa Predictions

Villa were rocked in that home loss against QPR in midweek but they are good enough to snap themselves back immediately. Bolton just haven’t had the successes to suggest that they can win this game, so back Villa to get back to winning ways.
