Bookmaker News – Paddy Power appoint Trump market specialist

Irish bookmaker facing pressure over controversial bet ads

Bookmaker News

Love them or hate them, there’s no denying that the headline writers at Paddy Power know how to keep the Dublin bookmakers name in the headlines!

If the sheer silliness of Paddy Power’s ad campaigns tickles your funny-bone, or you simply want to have a bet with an established betting firm, then the boys (and girls) at Power Towers may just be a good fit!

Paddy Power can back it all up with a very strong product platform, one of the best in-play services around and an extensive sports book.

paddypowerPaddy Power’s latest controversies have included offering odds for a recently-deceased former England star to replace Harry Redknapp as manager of Birmingham City (for which they’ve been forced to apologise) and an advertisement tinged with racial overtones concerning Floyd Mayweather’s recent fight with Conor McGregor. Mayweather didn’t seem to take offence at the slogan ‘Always Bet On Black’ as he had the logo printed on his shorts prior to the weigh-in but plenty others objected and the UK Advertising Standard Agency agreed.

Now, apparently, the Irish firm have appointed an odds compiler who will concentrate solely on markets involving US President Donald Trump. No doubt, Trump has been a godsend for bookmakers but how much business can you possibly drum up over what the Commander-in-Chief will do next? I’d have thought the man was too unpredictable to put money on what he’s got lined up. The job will only exist as long as Trump is in the White House – I hope Ireland’s only official Trump bookmaker hasn’t borrowed anything against future earnings – maybe this is just a ploy to claw back some of the estimated £4million that Paddy Power lost when the Republican candidate beat Hilary Clinton in the Presidential election!
