Bournemouth News and Form

Bournemouth took another away hit with a 2-0 defeat out at Leicester on the weekend. That just extended their really poor season away from home. They are W7 D5 L4 on home soil though, so that’s been a positive for them. The Cherries have gone without a win in their last three at the Vitality Stadium though (W2 D1) with the defeat in that sequence happening against Manchester City, which is excusable. Bournemouth have come up with 28 home goals this season, with a decent average of 1.75 goals per home game. 62% of their home games have gone over the 2.5 goal line. Bournemouth have collected a clean sheet in 31% of home fixtures.

The Cherries have not taken a clean sheet in any of their last three home fixtures though. They have scored in six of their last seven home fixtures though, the only time they didn’t in that sequence was in their defeat against Man City. All but two of their seven home wins have been by a margin of at least two goals. Bournemouth have conceded 62% of their home goals in the second half of matches and they have opened the scoring in 9 of 16. Their defence in general just looks a bit shaky with only four teams having conceded more goals than they have in this season’s top flight.

Key-Facts – Bournemouth v Burnley

  • Bournemouth have scored in six of their last seven home games
  • Burnley have conceded at least two goals in each of their last four away games
  • Burnley have just four away wins this season

Burnley News and Form

Burnley got a huge success on the weekend as they claimed a 2-0 home win over Wolves. The Clarets badly need that as it moved them five points clear of the drop zone at the close of the weekend. It had snapped a four-match losing streak that they were on as well. They have a lot of improving to go through still away from home though having suffered back to back away defeats. Those reverses were against Newcastle and Liverpool. Burnley have come up with only three away wins all season (D4 L9). They have struggled defensively as they average 1.9 goals per game against them this term.

The Clarets have returned an average of a goal per road game this season. They have not taken a clean sheet in any of their last four road games. They have conceded at least two goals in each of those as well. Only once this season on their travels have they been up at the half time break in a game. The Clarets have shipped 61% of their away goals in the second period of fixtures. Fulham are the only side to have conceded more league goals than the Clarets in the top flight this term. That’s a massive indication of how fragile the Clarets have been in the back line.

Bournemouth v Burnley Predictions

Bournemouth to win: The Cherries have done alright a home this season while Burnley have had their struggles on the road. This may well be a high scoring game as neither side are great in defence. The Cherries are likely to have the edge in the attacking department though.
