Bournemouth v Manchester City Betting Tips – Premier League, 25th August 2.00pm

Manchester City have looked sharp and hungry so far and have kicked off their campaign with a four-point haul from two games. VAR denied them a win over Spurs on the weekend. Four points is the same amount that Bournemouth have taken from their opening matches. Only the Cherries have scored less than half the amount of goals than City have done so far. Bournemouth News and Form

It has been an unbeaten start to the new season by the Cherries. Bournemouth have taken four points from their two games. They will feel that they missed a chance in their opener at home against the newly promoted Sheffield United though, as they could only draw the game after being ahead in the second half.

The Cherries then made the most of some defensive mistakes from Aston Villa to pick up a 2-1 away win. So boss Eddie Howe should be pleased nonetheless at his side’s start. The one niggle will be no clean sheet from them. So that is not something that bodes well in having to take on Manchester City. Things are going to get a lot more difficult than what they have had to deal with so far.

Last season at home in the top flight Bournemouth took a W8 D5 L6 record. They did lose four of their six at the Vitality Stadium against the top four and one of them was a 1-0 reverse against Man City. Three of the four losses which they suffered against the top six were by a one-goal margin only. Bournemouth took a clean sheet in a third of their home fixtures last season.

  • Raheem Sterling has four goals this season

Manchester City News and Form

If VAR had not intervened, Manchester City would be sitting on six points instead of four. The technology denied the Citizens a late winner at home against Spurs last weekend. It was an accidental handball offence which no-one saw, that was picked up. That frustration aside for them, they have looked extremely good again.

They started their title defence with a 5-0 away win at West Ham and really had the beating of Spurs. Man City dominated the game, Spurs barely getting a whiff of goal, but City couldn’t close it out. However, this is Manchester City and things like that generally just get them going and moving up a gear to two. They will want to put last weekend’s result behind them as quickly as possible.

Considering that they have scored five away goals already, they should be confident of success here. The Citizens posted an away record of  W14 D2 L3 last season in the top flight. They averaged exactly 2 goals per game away from home the last term. Raheem Sterling has rattled off four goals already in two games. The England forward is at 5/6 in the anytime goalscorer market* (Betting Odds were taken from bet365 on August 20th, 2019 at 8:15 a.m.)

Bournemouth v Manchester City Predictions

Man City to win: We think that it is worth a flutter on both teams to score in this one, even though we don’t have any doubt over the result. Manchester City should be heavily on top even on the road, but the Cherries may at least be able to get a goal on the board. Man City to win & both teams to score.
