Bournemouth News and Form

The Cherries could manage nothing better than a 14th place finish in last season’s Premier League. What held them back was inconsistencies and a terrible away record. Their home form even managed to desert them in the final run-in. They picked up a win in just one of their last six home games of the campaign.

Bournemouth posted a W8 D5 L6 record at the Vitality last season, scoring at an average of 1.6 goals per home fixture. They managed to get a clean sheet in a third of their games, while five of their eight home wins were by a margin of at least two goals.

Only three times last season were Bournemouth losing at the half time break in a home game. They did bank an opening win last season, a 2-0 victory over Cardiff at the Vitality. The Cherries had a good start to the season winning six of their first ten games (D2 L2) but they just couldn’t sustain that. They look to be pretty much in the same shape as last season.

  • Bournemouth only won one of their final six league home games last season
  • The Blades earned automatic promotion last season from the Championship

Sheffield United News and Form

The Blades earned second place in the Championship last term to get themselves their automatic promotion to the top flight. The backbone of their successful campaign was their form at Bramall Lane where they were so good. Their record on the road in the second tier was W11 D7 L5 which wasn’t bad.

How will they handle themselves in tougher away games in the EPL? They did go undefeated in their final nine games out on the road last season. The Blades averaged 1.6 goals just about, per away games. They collected a clean sheet in 39% of away fixtures. Of the five away defeats which they suffered, four of them were by a one-goal margin.

They have grabbed some experience at the back in getting Phil Jagielka and have added Oli McBurnie upfront from Swansea. Manager Chis Wilder could easily impress up in the top flight after bringing the Blades all the way up from League One. They were last in the Premier League in the 2006/07 season.

Bournemouth v Sheffield United Predictions

Bournemouth to win: The Blades are probably going to roll up and be super competitive. The Cherries have the scoring threat that perhaps the visitors don’t have, but a spirited effort from the away side may well see them pick up a point. Draw.
