Brazil v Mexico Olympic Football betting for the gold medal match of the London 2012 Games, will see the South Americans go as firm favourites. Brazil started the tournament as favourite and based on the whole of the competition up to this point, no-one has come close to matching them. Brazil did a very smart thing in using their Olympic squad in all of their international friendly matches in the run up to the Olympics. So they came fully prepared and they brought an enviable squad of experience and talent with them to boot. While they have not been in top gear for all of the tournament, they have still had more than enough in the tank to reach the gold medal match. They won all three of their group matches scoring three goals in each of their matches as they saw off Egypt, Belarus and New Zealand. Then it was on to face Central Americans Honduras in the quarter finals. Even though Honduras went down to ten men for two thirds of the game, they still gave Brazil an uncomfortable ride, twice taking the lead against the favourites This was the most disjointed we have seen Brazil, but this was probably their bad tournament match which usually happens.

But, Brazil being Brazil, even though they did not play well, still managed to edge a 3-2 victory. Surely that is the sign of a great team. Brazil have been fired along up front by Neymar and Leandro Damiao, the latter of which has now netted six times. Brazil faced up against South Korea, who had looked pretty solid in defence throughout the tournament, but Brazil sauntered past them 3-0 to set themselves up with a shot at their first ever men’s football gold medal at the Olympics. Who is going to bet against them? Brazil have managed three goals in every Olympic match they have played so far at the London 2012 Olympic Games, so in order for Mexico to stop them, somehow they have to find a way to outscore the Brazilians. Whether that is through sheer bravery pushing forward or through a huge defensive effort, Mexico will have a tough time on their hands. But Mexico themselves have put together a pretty impressive run themselves and aren’t shy in front of goal.

Mexico beat Japan 3-1 in their semi final match, and that was after notching up a 4-2 win over Senegal in the quarter finals To their credit, Mexico, who were kicked around by a physical Senegal side, responded well and did a good, professional job against the Japanese. Mexico won two and drew one of their three group matches without conceding a goal and they had opened up a two nil lead over Senegal before they let the African nation back in. So Mexico are a pretty organised side and can produce some neat football. They have shown that, and they have looked pretty solid at the back and can take their time with their foot on the ball. But is it going to be enough to trouble Brazil? It is more than likely that the Mexico back line will be breached by the powerful Brazilian attack so it is simply a matter of whether or not Mexico can offer enough going forward. Mexico’s leading scorer is Giovanni dos Santos with three and at the end of they day, while they will give the South Americans a good run for their money, they may not have enough scoring power at the end of the day.
