Selecao to see of the Swiss

Brazil v Switzerland- World Cup 2018

Brazil v Switzerland Betting Preview – World Cup 2018 17th June – 7:00 p.m

(Full time: 1:1 – goals: Coutinho 20′ – Zuber 50′)

Brazil certainly looks to be in peak shape at the moment as they go into Sunday’s fixture against Switzerland as firm favourites to collect maximum points. They have been scoring freely and they have been tight at the back which makes it a tough game for Switzerland to open with. The Swiss though are in decent form as they are on a good unbeaten streak, but our Brazil v Switzerland predictions can only see a win for the South Americans coming.

Brazil News and Form

Brazil are looking in pretty great shape at the moment to go and launch a successful World Cup campaign at Russia 2018. Their current form is fantastic having strung together a 10 match unbeaten streak since the start of last September, collecting a victory in seven of those 10 games. They are heading to Russia on the back of a four match winning streak and in that sequence, they collected a 1-0 win over Germany in a friendly. The chances of them going all of the way and getting their hands on the title have been boosted by the full return of Neymar following his injury. He is back in action for them and he was among the goals again in their most recent warm-ups and Neymar is the 3/1 odds joint-favourite* (betting odds taken on June 13th, 2018 at 8:20 p.m.) in bet365 first goalscorer market alongside Gabriel Jesus. Backing Neymar to get on the scoresheet has to be an option to seriously consider in Brazil v Switzerland predictions and as a whole Brazil are in form in front of goal. The Selecao have netted at least two goals in five of their last seven fixtures.

Brazil have been transformed from the side that they were four years ago when they fell the semi-final stage to Germany. New coach Tite has been an absolute revelation for them and they have been looking tactically sound and powerful in all departments. This is a Brazil side which is not just about all attacking flair, they are rock solid at the back as well. Brazil have eight clean sheets in their last 10 games played conceding just two goals in that sequence. So that has been impressive stuff from at the back and it leads us on to another top option in our predictions for this Group E fixture and that is Brazil to win to nil at 11/10 odds* (betting odds taken on June 13th, 2018 at 8:20 p.m.). Given the number of clean sheets that the Selecao have collected in their recent form, it only makes sense to go one assess the options in the bet365 correct score market as well. The shortest-priced option at 5/1 odds there* (betting odds taken on June 13th, 2018 at 8:20 p.m.) is a Brazil 2-0. They look in fine balance at the moment and are certainly going to take some stopping. Will Switzerland be able to come up with enough in defence to do just that?

Switzerland News and Form

You cannot write Switzerland off totally, as they had a great World Cup 2018 qualification campaign winning nine of ten games and they are undefeated since a lost against Portugal in their final World Cup qualification match. That was a loss which sent them through to the play offs where they edged Northern Ireland 1-0 on aggregate. Switzerland are unbeaten then in six games, winning four of those and they have won three of their last four matches as well. The one exception in that sequence was a 1-1 draw against Spain in early June. So that actually doesn’t read too badly for the Europeans, but they are still heavy underdogs for this fixture against Brazil.

To put things into context though, Switzerland haven’t really faced very much top quality opposition in their last 10 games aside from Spain and Portugal, and you wonder how they will fare against the Brazilians. The Swiss have returned 11 goals in their last seven games which is an alright return but it’s slightly off-balance because they scored six of those in one big victory against Panama recently. But they do have a clear strength at the back as they didn’t give up very many goals in World Cup qualification and they have earned five clean sheets in their last six games heading to Russia 2018. But even with that said this is such a powerful Brazilian attack that they are trying to shut down that it is still worth looking at both teams not to score at 4/6 odds at bet365* (betting odds taken on June 13th, 2018 at 8:20 p.m.). A loss in this game will put the Swiss on the back foot little bit but they will have their chance to recover in the qualification race against Serbia and Costa Rica, but the pressure will be there on them in the group the if they cannot avoid defeat here.

Brazil v Switzerland Head to Head

This will be the fourth meeting between Brazil and Switzerland and from the three previous games, things are even with one win each and a draw. The draw came in their first ever meeting which was at the 1950 World Cup and it remains their only competitive fixture. The most recent meeting happened in August 2013 in a friendly and Switzerland collected a 1-0 victory on that occasion.

Brazil v Switzerland Predictions

Brazil will be looking to make a confident start and the tournament favourites are likely to get the win on the board. There are ticking over in great form and Neymar is back and among the goals and at the end of the day Switzerland may just not have the craft to threaten too much, so back a Brazil to win to nil option.
