Brazil News and Form

Brazil were really slow out of the gates in the first half of their opening tournament fixture against Bolivia. That half will have given plenty of belief to the other front runners at the 2019 Copa America that Brazil can be taken out. Still, the Selecao recorded a 3-0 success with goals in the second half, Philippe Coutinho getting a brace. So that leaves Brazil in a strong position at the top of the pile now, and they will take a massive stride towards the knockout stages with a victory in this one too. That did extend their current run of positive form going back to September last year.

Brazil have taken a W10 D1 record from their last eleven matches. So it’s hard to find fault with Tite’s men. Across those eleven fixtures, Brazil have taken nine clean sheets and they have scored at least two goals in each of their last three games played. Before that though, the Brazilians hadn’t managed to score more than one goal in a run of four matches. Brazil’s attack has been hampered in this one with the injury to Neymar which keeps him out of the entire tournament. The Brazilians could lock down top spot in this group with a win and if Peru fail to beat Bolivia in their second match.

Venezuela News and Form

Venezuela are carrying some pretty decent form with them at the moment. They have only lost one of their last nine fixtures. That one defeat which they suffered was in a friendly against Mexico at the start of June. They just couldn’t find a way past a stubborn Peru in their opening Copa America 2019 fixture, but they themselves again showed how tough of a side that they are to beat. Venezuela are now on a W4 D4 L1 record in their last nine games now. They were in a good bit of scoring form as well, as they were on a six-match scoring streak before the blank against Peru.

In defence, they have managed to pick up only two clean sheets from their last seven games. Those have been back to back clean sheets in their last two games. They will know that their defence is going to come under some pressure in this one, but they are capable of mixing it with stronger opposition. Venezuela faced Argentina back towards the end of March this year and produced a wonderful 3-1 win over the Albiceleste. They can be a bit erratic and unpredictable can Venezuela, but they have it in them to produce a good performance. They would really shake things up in Group A with a win, that’s for sure.
