Brentford News and Form – Bees to seal a fourth home win in a row?

After a slow start to their season, things are starting to click into gear for Brentford. With the move to the new stadium imminent and the squad full of young, exciting players, it’s certainly a good time to be a Bees fan.

Griffin Park is beginning to become somewhat a fortress for Thomas Frank’s men. Since losing to Birmingham City on the opening weekend of the season, the London side have only lost once at home. Huddersfield Town left with a 1-0 win at the start of last month, but Brentford have hit back with three consecutive home wins.

Having thumped Luton Town 7-0 in the previous home game, Brentford edged past Cardiff City at Griffin Park in midweek. The Bees were superb at times, cutting through the Bluebirds defence at will. Bryan Mbeumo and Ollie Watkins were the scorers in the merited 2-1 win.

Brentford will leapfrog rivals Fulham with another home win on Saturday. The Bees are currently priced at 6/5 to do so.

Brentford vs Fulham Head to Head

In the 2017-18 Championship season, Brentford picked up four points from the two fixtures. However, Fulham were promoted at the end of the campaign

In the last meeting at Griffin Park, the Bees ran out 3-1 winners thanks to strikes by Sergi Canos, Romaine Sawyers and Ollie Watkins

It’s been three years since Fulham’s last victory against Brentford (a 2-0 win at Griffin Park)

Brentford have won four of the previous eight league meetings, with Fulham winning just one

Key-Facts – Brentford vs Fulham

  • The Bees have won the last three at home, scoring ten times
  • The Cottagers have lost their last two going into this one
  • These two rivals are separated by just two points in the Championship table

Fulham News and Form – Can the Cottagers avoid a third straight defeat?

Fulham have had a disappointing week. Last Saturday, Scott Parker’s troops were beaten 2-1 at home by Bristol City. They followed that up with another 2-1 reverse, this time against Preston North End at Deepdale.

Prior to those back-to-back defeats, Fulham had won four in a row, seeing off the likes of Birmingham, Queens Park Rangers, Derby County and Swansea City. The Whites are third, but they are a whopping 11 points behind joint leaders Leeds United and West Bromwich Albion.

Fulham, who were relegated from the Premier League last term, have had a decent season so far but defeat at Griffin Park at the weekend would be their third loss on the spin. Can the Cottagers win at the home of their rivals on Saturday?

Brentford vs Fulham Predictions

Draw: Brentford have been very solid at home this season, winning five, drawing three and losing just two. Four of those wins have come in their last five, as Frank’s boys have seen off Millwall, Reading, Luton and Cardiff. The Bees’ superb form has taken them to the cusp of the play-offs in the Championship.

Before their recent back-to-back 2-1 defeats, Fulham were keeping the pressure on West Brom and Leeds. However, having slipped 11 points adrift of the top two, the Cottagers could really do with getting back to winning ways as soon as possible.

This derby clash could go either way, but I can see the duo playing out a draw at Griffin Park. The 1-1 stalemate is nicely priced at 11/2.

Brentford’s Ollie Watkins has had a superb season so far, netting 13 goals. Fulham’s Aleksandar Mitrovic (16) and Hull City’s Jarrod Bowen (14) are the only players to have scored more. Watkins is priced at 4/1 to open the scoring on Saturday.
