Brighton v Chelsea Betting Tips – Premier League 20th January 12.30pm

Brighton have gone without a win in their last four league games and start the weekend just three points clear of the drop zone. So there is some pressure on them, but their home from actually is pretty solid still. Chelsea have looked a tired side, particularly up front recently as they have been battling along in the league and both domestic cups. They may have to really grind out a performance here on the south coast as they look a bit short of finding top gear at the moment.

Brighton News and Form

Brighton have taken only one league win in their last twelve played in the top flight. The wind that they posted in that sequence was at home, beating Watford just before Christmas. So wins have been hard to come by for them, but they have done pretty well on home soil all things considered after their promotion last season. At the Amex, they are unbeaten in their last three league games and overall the Seagulls are just W3 D6 L2 for the season at home, which isn’t bad with only Liverpool and Manchester City having won there. Brighton have not been able to push on to turn draws into wins because of a lack of scoring power and they have scored only the twelve goals in their eleven home fixtures. Just 36% of their home fixtures have gone over 2.5 goals so this has every chance of being a low scoring game and under 2.5 goals at BetVictor looks good value at 8/11 odds* (Betting Odds taken on January 15th, 2018 at 7:59 p.m.). To their credit, they have only failed to score in three of their home games this season. They are under a bit of pressure at the moment though after losing against West Brom last weekend as they are now only three points clear of the drop zone. They may well make life difficult for Chelsea, but can they beat them?

Chelsea News and Form

Chelsea have looked a bit of a tired side lately, particularly in the final third of the pitch. That is the price they have had to pay for firing along in all competitions, with them being involved the EFL Cup semi-finals and needing a replay in the FA Cup against Norwich in midweek as well. That was the last thing they needed. The Blues have drawn their last two Premier League games and have taken just a W2 D3 record in their last five. They have not looked anywhere near as clinical up front, but they do remain strong at the back. They are on a seven-match unbeaten streak of form in the top flight at the moment but they have struggled for wins lately on the road, going just W1 D3 L1 in their last five away from the Bridge. So they may have their struggles to break down a solid Brighton defence on the south coast. Chelsea are W6 D3 l2 overall on their travels in the top flight this season and they have averaged 1.8 goals per game. They have conceded under a goal per game on average and Chelsea to win to nil at BetVictor may have appeal for some punters. Chelsea have the joint-best defence alongside Manchester United this season and Antonio Conte has led his men to five clean sheets in their last six league outings. This may be a grind for them for them though against a side who will set up to contain them.

Brighton v Chelsea Head to Head

Chelsea and Brighton met just back on December 26th Stamford Bridge and the Blues got themselves a 2-0 victory. That extended their good form against the Seagulls to seven straight wins and during that sequence, they have conceded only the one goal against Brighton. Overall from the previous head to head, Chelsea are W7 D1 L1 from nine previous games against Brighton.

Brighton v Chelsea Predictions

Chelsea to win: Brighton haven’t done enough to warrant backing them to actually get a win on the board here, but there is resilience from them and that will keep the score down. Under 2.5 goals looks a good proposition but Chelsea needs a response and may just edge it. A 1-0 for the Blues looks pretty appealing.
