Brighton v Coventry Betting Preview – FA Cup 17th February 3.00pm

Brighton will be happy enough with the draw for the FA Cup as they get a shot against one of the two remaining representatives from League Two in the fifth round. Even though the Seagulls have one eye on trying to stay in the Premier League this season, they have been scrapping well in the FA Cup. But Coventry have proven themselves well in their run to this stage of the competition and equally they will probably be happy enough with the draw they have gotten too.

Brighton v Coventry FA Cup Betting Tips

The Seagulls collected a point in a draw at Stoke in the Premier League on the weekend after failing to hold a lead. The impressive thing about Brighton was how full of attacking intent they looked in the game. It stretched out their unbeaten streak of form to four games in all competitions now and so far they have beaten Crystal Palace and Championship side Middlesbrough in the FA Cup so far. The Seagulls have scored in each of their last four games played now but you do generally expect lower-scoring games so under 2.5 goals at Betfair is at 4/5 odds* (Betting Odds taken on February 11th, 2018 at 5:42 p.m.). At the Amex, Brighton have only lost the three games all season (W6 D6) and have suffered only the one defeat there in their last six which was a heavy loss against Chelsea in the league. Brighton though have rattled off three wins in their last five home games and Brighton 1-0 is the shortest-priced option in the Betfair correct score market at 9/2 odds* (Betting Odds taken on February 11th, 2018 at 5:42 p.m.).

The 2011/12 Championship was the last time that these two met and that season, they both won their respective home games. Coventry won the last FA Cup meeting between them which was at Brighton in 2006. That leaves the Sky Blues 2-1 up with one draw from four previous FA Cup games against the Seagulls. However, that win has been Coventry’s only success in their last eight visits to Brighton in all competitions.

Coventry are just outside of the play offs in League Two and they have had a pretty solid season. They just are not quite in top league form at the moment, but that have seen off Premier League opposition already in the FA Cup. They took out Stoke 2-1 at the Ricoh and that is part of a W6 L3 streak of form that the Sky Blues are on at the moment. For most of the season they have been rock solid at the back, however, they only have the one clean sheet in their last seven played now. They have been struggling for away wins too with just a W2 D1 L4 record in their last seven road games. Their last two away success have both been by a 1-0 scoreline and those are the only two clean sheets that they have earned in their last eight road fixtures as well. Both teams not to score is at 8/13 odds with Betfair* (Betting Odds taken on February 11th, 2018 at 5:42 p.m.) and at the end of the day, if Coventry can get this back to a replay they will look a much bigger threat.

Brighton v Coventry FA Cup Betting Odds*

Brighton 1/3, Draw 15/4, Coventry 9/1* (Betting Odds taken on February 9th, 2018 at 11:19 p.m.)

Brighton v Coventry FA Cup Predictions

The draw will have some appeal here because Coventry boast a pretty mean defence and with Brighton not being full of goals then there is every chance that the Sky Blues can stick in there and get this back to the Ricoh Arena. That would make life very difficult for the Seagulls then.13
