Brighton News and Form – Will the Seagulls make it two wins from two?

The Seagulls were one of the headline grabbers on the opening weekend of the new season. They got themselves a 3-0 success on the road at Watford. Considering they had only just avoided relegation last season, that was some result from the Seagulls and boss Graham Potter. Can they build on that? Can they get themselves some good momentum going? This is a good chance for them being on home soil. Florin Andone and Neal Maupay added to their tally at Vicarage Road on the weekend after having been gifted their opener by an own goal.

Just to highlight how big of a win that was for Brighton, the Seagulls won just three away games in the last campaign. Their form at the Amex last season ended at a W6 D5 L8 record. Four of their last five home games of the campaign were lost (D1) and across the course of the season at the Amex, they scored an average of just the one goal per game. Brighton bagged a clean sheet in a quarter of home fixtures. All but one of their six home wins happened by a one-goal margin.

Brighton v West Ham Head to Head

The Seagulls earned four points against the Hammers last season
West Ham are winless in four previous EPL games against Brighton (D1 L3)
Brighton have won their last two home games against the Irons
Four of the last six meetings have gone over 2.5 goals

West Ham News and Form – Can the Irons shake off heavy defeat?

The Hammers had a bad start to the season after suffering a 5-0 loss against Manchester City. At Home. To their credit, West Ham had started really well in the game and had plenty of possession in the opposition’s half. They just couldn’t get the early advantage that they needed to settle themselves. After they had conceded, that just opened the floodgates unfortunately. Still, they can write that game off against the reigning champions, as many will continue to suffer at the hands of the Citizens.

West Ham look on paper as if they can shape up well in attack, although it didn’t happen last weekend for them. West Ham’s away record last season was W6 D5 L10 in the top flight. They took back to back wins away from home at the end of their campaign and they were good wins as well. They came against Tottenham and Watford. The Hammers managed a clean sheet in just 16% of their away games last season. Get last weekend’s effort out of their mind and they can challenge on the south coast.

Brighton v West Ham Predictions

Draw: Brighton actually are going to be in good spirits for their first home game of the new campaign. The result they got last week was astounding. But West Ham did play very well in the early stages of their game against Manchester City before being blown away. The Hammers may be able to get a point ahead of their trip to the South Coast.
