Championship Betting

Bristol City v Middlesbrough Betting Preview – Championship 2nd December 5.30pm

Bristol City haven’t suffered a slump yet that many expected them to have and they are going strongly inside of the top six in the Championship. This will be a tougher home game for them as they play host to Middlesbrough who start the weekend down in seventh. After a great run of form, Boro have suffered two defeats in their last three but there are a big three points up for grabs in this one. A win for the visitors sees them claw their way to within two points of the Robins. A defeat will be big ground lost.

Bristol City v Middlesbrough Betting Tips

The Robins have not been showing any signs of slowing up in the Championship season so far and they showed some character recently too. After they suffered a loss against Preston in their last game at Ashton Gate, they snapped back to grind out a win out at Hull. So that is a W4 D1 L1 record they have posted in their last six league games and they are holding their own well, pretty much a big surprise package this term. The Robins have gone W3 D2 L2 on home soil at Ashton Gate and they need just a little bit of a boost there because they have taken just the one win in their last four there (D2 L1). They have scored at a rate of 1.4 goals per game on home soil this season and they have conceded an average of one per game. Both teams to score at William Hill looks a viable option at 8/11 for this one. City’s Bobby Reid is up to ten goals for the league season now and is an 11/8 anytime goalscorer option for the fixture.

City do have a bit of form running against Boro as well having won each of their last three league contests against them without conceding and if you wanted to back that trend the Robins are 10/3 to win to nil again. However, they have not taken a clean sheet in any of their last three home games this term and Boro will be a threat. The last time that these two met was in the 2015/16 Championship season with the Robins taking back to back 1-0 victories. They are unbeaten in their last five games in the Championship against Boro side a 1-0 loss at the Riverside back in 2011. So this is a big game for the Robins to put distance between themselves and the seventh placed side in the league, and it is equally big for Boro too who don’t want to lose ground against a side above them. Boro have suffered a couple of disappointing results recently and they could be at risk.

Boro have gone W4 L2 in their last six league games but both of those defeats, against Leeds and Derby have happened in their last three games. Their record away from the Riverside is only W3 D3 L3 this season but to their credit, they have suffered only the one loss in their last seven away games. So they are going to be competitive because of that and could be some decent value to avoid defeat at Ashton Gate. Under 2.5 goals at Bet365 is a price of 5/6 and in the correct score market, the shortest priced option available is the 1-1 draw at 5/1. Boro have one clean sheet in their last five road games. The man delivering the goals for them this season is Britt Assombalonga who has eleven league goals to his name this season and six of those have gone out on the road. He’s been pretty prolific and not too surprisingly he is the 9/2 first goalscorer option for the game.

Bristol City v Middlesbrough Predictions

Bristol City have lost their winning touch a little bit on home soil, but they showed their confidence in bouncing back to win at Hull last weekend. Middlesbrough have struggled for clean sheets on the road and therefore the Robins can just sneak this by a one goal margin.
