Bristol City v Queens Park Rangers Betting Tips – EFL Championship, 17th August 15.00pm

Bristol City and Queens Park Rangers do battle in the EFL Championship at Ashton Gate on Saturday afternoon. These two sides played out a thriller at Loftus Road in the EFL Cup in midweek, with QPR running out winners after a penalty shootout. The Robins have had a poor start to their season, but can City put their first points on the board at the weekend? Meanwhile, Mark Warburton’s men would probably take a draw now in offered.

Bristol City News and Form – Can the Robins secure a first win of the season on Saturday?

Bristol City have started their Championship campaign with one point from two games. Lee Johnson’s kicked off their league season with a disappointing 3-1 home loss to title favourites Leeds United at Ashton Gate. However, the Robins battled back to claim a 1-1 draw with Birmingham City at St Andrew’s last weekend, with Tommy Rowe getting a late equaliser.

City were involved in a six-goal thriller with QPR in the cup midweek. Famara Diedhiou’s early opener was quickly cancelled out by a Nahki Wells goal. Ilias Chair put Rangers in front but Jack Hunt levelled four minutes before the break. Liam Walsh then netted for City on the hour mark, which Bristol thought would be enough. Unfortunately for them, a Ryan Manning penalty with five minutes left took the game to penalties. QPR went on to win an enthralling shootout 5-4.

Bristol City were excellent away from home last season, winning 11 of their 23 fixtures on the road. In fact, only champions Norwich City (45) and runners-up Sheffield United (40) picked up more than City’s 38 away points. At Ashton Gate, though, the Robins were very poor, as they claimed just eight wins and accumulated only 32 points.

Bristol City will be desperate to secure their first Championship win of the season this weekend. It’s been a sluggish start by Johnson’s troops, but can they put things right in this one?

Queens Park Rangers News and Form – Hoops to continue fine start?

Mark Warburton has made a superb start to life at Loftus Road. The former Brentford boss has guided the London outfit to four points from their opening two Championship matches. The Hoops began with an excellent 2-1 win at Stoke City, with Jordan Hugill and Eberechi Eze scoring the goals at the bet365 Stadium.

In their last Championship outing, Rangers battled back from a goal down to draw 1-1 with Jan Siewert’s Huddersfield Town at Loftus Road. A Karlan Grant penalty put the Terriers in front, but Grant Hall’s strike seven minutes from time earned QPR a deserved point on home soil.

QPR’s new-found never-say-die attitude was on show in Tuesday’s League Cup win over Bristol City. Rangers found themselves behind twice, but Manning’s late spot kick forced a penalty shootout, which they went on to win. QPR now face EFL League One outfit Portsmouth in the next round.

Warburton’s R’s have made a good start to their season. A trip to Ashton Gate is never an easy one, but QPR will fancy their chances of leaving Bristol with a positive result at the weekend.

Bristol City v Queens Park Rangers Predictions

Draw: Bristol City will be on the search for their first league win of the season on Saturday. However, Queens Park Rangers have made a solid start under Warburton, and the Hoops could be a tough nut to crack for the Robins. These two sides played out a memorable matchup in the cup on Tuesday, with the game ending 3-3 after 90 minutes. I fancy both teams to score in another draw this weekend, which you can get at 7/2. Also, check out the 1-1 stalemate at the decent odds of 5/1.
